Chapter 57 - Chapter 54 — The Interrogation Committee

Chapter 54 — The Interrogation Committee 🕵️‍♂️😤

Jay quietly entered the house, her bag still slightly damp from the rain.

The moment she stepped in, she already felt it — that heavy silence that only one person in the world could create.

Kuya Angelo. 😭

He was sitting on the couch, arms crossed, eyes sharp. Beside him stood Aries, hands in pockets, expression unreadable.

"Where have you been?" Kuya's tone was calm… too calm.

Jay froze, smiling awkwardly. "Uh… Keifer's house. The storm, remember? Roads were blocked."

Angelo raised an eyebrow. "You stayed there?"

Jay gulped. "...Yes?"

Aries tilted his head. "For how long?"

"Just… a night or two."

Kuya leaned forward. "A night or two?"

Jay: "...Three." 😭

Aries sighed dramatically. "Three nights in Watson's house."

Jay quickly said, "It wasn't like that! The storm was bad! I couldn't just—"

Kuya Angelo cut her off. "What exactly did you both do during those three nights, Jay?"

Her eyes widened. "W-what do you mean?! Nothing! We just… survived!"

"Survived?" Aries said, fighting a smirk. "In his arms?"

Jay's jaw dropped. "Aries!! No! I swear—"

Kuya narrowed his eyes. "Did you both sleep in one room?"

Jay stammered, "No! I slept in the guest room!"

Kuya: "Are you sure?"

Jay: "Yes! 100%! Promise! Pinky swear!"

Aries smirked. "You're blinking too much. That's your lying face."

Jay gasped. "I'm not lying!"

Kuya Angelo sighed, rubbing his temples. "Jay, I just don't trust that boy."

Aries nodded dramatically. "Yeah. Watson's trouble."

Jay frowned. "He's not! He literally made sure I was safe the whole time. He didn't let me walk in the rain, he cooked for me when I got dizzy, he—"

Aries raised a brow. "He cooked for you?"

Jay realized what she said and quickly backtracked. "I mean—uh—his brothers! He and his brothers!"

Angelo stood, walking closer. "Jay, you know why we're asking, right?"

Jay nodded slowly. "Yeah… you're protective."

He softened, just a little. "Exactly. I've seen how Watson looks at you. And how you look at him."

Jay blushed instantly. "K-kuya!"

Aries chuckled under his breath. "He's got a point though."

Angelo shot him a glare. "Don't encourage her."

"I'm not! Just saying he's… not as bad as we thought."

Jay blinked. "Wait—so you like him?"

Both of them instantly: "No."

Jay squinted. "You're lying."

Angelo cleared his throat. "We're considering forgiving him for existing."

Aries grinned. "Because he didn't let you drown."

Jay rolled her eyes, laughing softly. "You two are impossible."

Angelo smiled faintly, trying to hide it. "Just remember, Jay — we don't want to see you hurt. Ever."

Jay's tone softened. "I know, Kuya. But Keifer… he's not the type to hurt me."

Aries muttered, "We know."

Jay tilted her head. "Then why act like he's dangerous?"

Angelo shrugged. "Because it's fun." 😏

Jay: "You're evil."

Aries grinned. "It runs in the family."

Jay burst out laughing, finally dropping the tension.

And even though both of her brothers pretended to be serious again, Jay saw it — that small, satisfied look on their faces.

They could tell Keifer truly cared for her.

And deep down… they were actually relieved.
