Chapter 53 — Pancakes, Jealousy, and The Goodbye Morning ☀️💞
The sunlight finally broke through the clouds, spilling golden light across the Watson house.
The storm had left puddles everywhere — but the air was fresh, soft, and full of that "after rain" calm. 🌈
Jay woke up before everyone else.
She stretched, smiled, and tiptoed toward the kitchen. "Let's do something nice before I go home," she whispered to herself.
Within minutes, the smell of pancakes, eggs, and hot cocoa filled the kitchen.
She was humming softly — an old tune she barely remembered — when two sleepy voices appeared behind her.
"Ate Jay?" Keigen yawned. "Are we dreaming or are you really cooking?"
Jay turned and grinned. "Real, I promise. Go sit. Breakfast is almost ready."
Keiren rubbed his eyes. "Can we help?"
"Of course," she said, smiling. "But only if you promise not to burn anything."
Keigen saluted dramatically. "Chef Keigen reporting for duty!"
They all laughed as the three of them started cooking — Jay flipping pancakes, Keiren pouring syrup, Keigen stealing bites every chance he got. The kitchen was pure chaos and joy. 😂
☕
Meanwhile upstairs, Keifer woke up to an empty bed and frowned instantly.
He muttered, "Where's my wife?" before realizing what he said out loud. 😳
He ran his hand through his hair, grabbed his hoodie, and followed the delicious smell downstairs.
What he saw made him stop in his tracks.
Jay — smiling, laughing with his brothers, wearing his hoodie again, and flipping pancakes like she belonged there(she did).
"My life, you're cheating on me with my brothers now?" he teased, leaning on the doorframe.
Jay turned around, startled. "Good morning to you too, jealous Watson." 😏
Keifer pouted dramatically. "You left me alone upstairs."
"You were sleeping like a rock!" she said, laughing.
"I sleep better when you're beside me," he said with that signature smirk.
Jay groaned. "You're impossible, Keifer."
Keigen giggled. "Kuya, Ate Jay made pancakes!"
Keifer walked over, wrapped his arm around Jay's waist from behind, and whispered, "Now that's what I call a good morning."
"Keifer!" she hissed, trying to hide her blush. "Your brothers are literally right there!"
Keiren snorted. "We're used to it, Ate Jay."
Jay's face turned red. "Unbelievable."
Keifer only chuckled. "You love it, sweetheart." 💞
☀️
After breakfast, Jay stood by the window, looking out at the clear sky. "Looks like the road's finally open," she said softly.
Keifer's smile faded a little. "So… you're going home?"
Jay turned to face him. "Yeah. School will probably reopen soon, too."
He nodded, trying to sound casual but failing miserably. "Right. Of course."
Jay stepped closer and reached for his hand. "Hey… I'll still see you every day, you know."
"Not the same," he whispered. "It's quieter when you're not around."
Her heart melted. "Keifer…"
He looked down at her, eyes full of something soft — something she couldn't quite describe.
"I'll miss you," he said simply.
Jay smiled gently. "You'll live, Mr. Watson."
He grinned. "Barely."
She laughed, then hugged him — tight, long, and full of warmth. "Thank you," she whispered.
"For what?"
"For being my calm after the storm."
He closed his eyes, holding her closer. "Always, Mrs. Watson. Always." 💞
☁️
As she stepped outside, the air was fresh, the sun warm, and her heart full.
Keifer stood at the gate, waving until her figure disappeared down the road.
Keigen nudged his brother. "Kuya, you're smiling like a lovesick puppy."
Keifer chuckled softly, eyes still on the road. "Can you blame me?"
Keiren smirked. "You're so whipped."
Keifer just grinned wider. "Yeah. And I'm proud of it." 😏
