Chapter 32 - Chapter 32: When You Have Guests at Home, Self-Defense is Key

Chapter 32: When You Have Guests at Home, Self-Defense is Key

Edward walked to his doorstep and used Purification on himself, a pure light forming a thin protective layer on his body—he didn't know what dangers might still be lurking inside his home.

Pushing open the door, the scene in the living room made Edward frown slightly.

Lily was sitting on the sofa, clutching the teddy bear with both hands, looking at him with an innocent expression.

But the air was filled with a faint scent of blood, along with an indescribable eerie atmosphere.

"Lily, did you make a mess?" Edward closed the door casually, his tone teasing.

Lily blinked her big eyes and said in a childish voice, "No, I didn't. If it weren't for—"

Before she could finish, a sweet and magnetic female voice suddenly echoed in the living room:

"So you're the human who can use Purification? You're quite handsome indeed."

Edward instantly became alert, but before he could react, a shadow appeared before him. It was a graceful woman dressed in an elaborate Gothic gown, with pale skin and crimson lips, radiating a dangerous yet seductive aura.

"Come, let me have a taste." Dorothy smiled alluringly, appearing before Edward in a flash, and kissed him without warning.

Edward's first reaction was to activate Purification, and a powerful purifying light erupted from his body, trying to push away the beautiful demoness who had suddenly attacked him.

But the next second, Dorothy's lips were soft and cool, with a strange sweetness, and Edward didn't fully resist. The light of Purification flickered between them but didn't truly harm her.

After a long moment, they finally separated.

Dorothy licked her lips, her eyes gleaming with satisfaction: "That divine burning sensation... it's been ages since I felt such pleasure."

Edward was seriously alarmed. This woman could withstand the power of Purification completely unscathed? It seemed he had gotten a bit too cocky.

He absolutely had to do a ten-pull for protection tonight.

"Who are you?" Edward forced himself to calm down and took a few steps back.

Dorothy elegantly smoothed her hair, her smile enchanting: "I am Dorothy. In the underworld, they call me the Beautiful Demoness. Those foolish believers summoned me just now, but I didn't expect to encounter such an interesting human."

"Interesting?" Edward raised an eyebrow.

"Humans capable of wielding Purification are already extremely rare in this era."

Dorothy circled Edward, as if appraising a precious work of art. "And so young, and so... alluring."

Lily coughed on the sofa: "Um, I'm still here?"

"I know you're here, but isn't this all your fault!" Edward raised his hand with Purification glowing, and Lily wisely shut her mouth and covered her eyes.

Dorothy smiled playfully, and Edward glanced at her.

"Purification discipline?" Dorothy's smile grew even brighter. "Using Purification to train demons—that's such a... unique approach. No wonder this little one is so obedient."

"Master, this woman is very dangerous," Lily whispered a warning. "Her demonic aura is way stronger than mine."

Edward nodded. This Dorothy was definitely not an ordinary supernatural entity. The power fluctuations emanating from her made his heart race.

"So, Lady Beautiful Demoness, why are you still in my house?" Edward asked directly.

Dorothy sat on the sofa, crossing her legs, her posture elegant and casual: "For you, of course. Humans with Purification power are too rare. I want to... understand you better."

"Understand?"

"For example, where does your Purification power come from? Why can you wield it at such a young age? And..." Her eyes became intense, "Are you willing to work with me?"

Edward frowned: "Work with you on what?"

"There are many interesting beings in this world: angels, demons, various supernatural creatures." Dorothy elegantly sipped red wine that had appeared out of thin air. "But humans like you, who can both use Purification and don't refuse contact with demons, are extremely rare."

"So?"

"So I want to invite you to join my organization." Dorothy put down her wine glass and looked at Edward seriously. "I can give you power, knowledge, and anything you desire in this world. In return, you only need to occasionally help me with some small tasks."

Edward was silent for a few seconds, then suddenly chuckled: "That sounds like a pretty tempting offer."

Dorothy's eyes lit up: "Then?"

"But I'm gonna pass." Edward's words made the smile on Dorothy's face freeze.

"Why?" she asked, puzzled.

"Because I don't like being controlled." Edward shrugged. "Besides, I think my current life is pretty good. I have an obedient demon little sister, a girl I like, and interesting adventures. Why would I want to change that?"

Dorothy's expression turned dangerous: "Are you sure you want to refuse me? My patience has limits."

"So what?" Edward met her gaze without backing down. "You wanna fight here?"

The tension in the air instantly peaked. Lily was already ready for battle, her small body containing terrifying demonic power.

But unexpectedly, Dorothy suddenly laughed.

"Interesting, truly interesting." She clapped her hands. "I like you more and more, Edward."

"Since you're unwilling now, I'll wait and see. One day, you'll need my help."

She walked up to Edward, stood on her tiptoes, and whispered in his ear: "Remember, when you encounter an insurmountable obstacle, just call my name, and I'll appear anytime."

With that, her figure vanished as suddenly as she had arrived, leaving only a faint perfume scent in the air.

The living room became quiet again, and Edward finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Edward looked at Lily: "By the way, Lily, what happened to those cultist wannabes and their friends?"

Lily blinked her eyes, looking innocent: "I sent them all to meet their master."

Edward nodded, not pressing further. He knew Lily's methods—the cultists' fates certainly weren't pretty.

"Alright, that's enough for today." Edward stretched. "I'm gonna shower and crash early."

But he knew very well that today's encounter was just the beginning.

There were definitely more beings like Dorothy out there, and he still had to work hard to get stronger.

However, he'd cross those bridges when he came to them. He had his system, Purification, and increasingly powerful abilities.

No matter what came his way, he wouldn't back down.
