Chapter 1 - Prologue - The past gamer

I love video games.

I mean... who doesn't?

Ever since childhood, I was addicted to video games.

But childhood doesn't last forever.

Time moved forward, life shifted, and responsibilities piled up.

Homework, school, and then sports... everything demanded attention.

The hours I once spent grinding levels with friends or exploring open worlds turned into minutes… then seconds… then none at all.

Still, one thing stayed with me... boxing.

I don't know when boxing changed from something I watched to something I wanted to be.

Maybe it was the raw intensity... the sweat and the grit.

Or maybe it was the idea of shaping my body and mind into something powerful.

All I know is once I stepped into a gym and felt that canvas floor beneath my shoes, something clicked.

And I excelled at boxing.

The footwork, the rhythm and the strategy... it felt just as natural and thrilling as those boss fights I once obsessed over in video games.

And in those moments, boxing became my new game...

Then came 'that' match.

The one everyone remembered.

And the one I wish I could forget.

Because of a mistimed dodge, I got severely injured during an important match.

Next thing I knew, I woke up in a hospital.

Doctors said that I cannot do boxing again in my life.

I was devastated.

Days blurred into weeks. I tried physical therapy. I tried staying hopeful. But hope is heavy when you're holding it alone.

And with nothing to do but lie there, boredom eventually crawled in.

So, I picked up my phone.

Then a handheld.

Then a console someone brought me.

And slowly... I returned to the one passion that never asked anything from me except curiosity.

Video games.

I began to feel the joy I felt during my childhood, the excitement, and the adrenaline.

However... Everything becomes bland once you spend a certain time on it, and that's what happened to me.

I don't know how it happened, but I wasn't having much fun while playing video games anymore.

RPG, FPS, MMO, ARPG... the genre doesn't matter; it's just that most games that are releasing these days are mediocre at best.

They are mostly similar to other games...

I began to grow sick of these games.

And that's when I found out about this particular game.

I won't lie and say that it's a unique game or the best game of all time.

It is a simple choice-driven narrative game.

Now...

Don't look at me like that; hear me out.

In this game, you play as the main character of the game.

And the choices you make along the way give different kinds of endings.

And depending on what you choose, the story ends… well… differently.

How differently?

Try 74 known bad endings.

Yes. Seventy-four.

Seventy-four variations of failure... some pathetic, some tragic, some horrifying, some so stupid I questioned whether the developers were drunk or just mentally insane.

And just three good endings.

Yep, it's a fucking shitty game, and I hate it so much.

...But I was addicted.

Also, these fuckass developers made it so that every time you die in the game, you start from the starting point... all over again.

There are no checkpoints in between.

Just a screen showing "Try again, dumbass."

Again, it's a fucking shitty game, and I hate the game so much.

So naturally, I kept playing.

Even after leaving the hospital, I continued my university studies and joined a well-paying office job.

Even while I was working, I kept playing the game in between my free hours.

...Yet.

Why?

WHY?

Why was I transmigrated into this fuckass game?

And of all things, the protagonist of the game is already dead...

...and the world is nearing a bad ending.
