We set off on our journey by foot, after all what kind of carriage would take us to the end of the world.
After a week of travel we reach unmapped territory.
"Are we seriously going to travel for 26 years? I'm to young to be wasting my life on such a journey" said claire.
"No way, were gonna get there in a year at most, the map shows the farlands at the edge, if everything is relative to each other on this we should be fine. That guy must have just gotten lost." Said Kabu
"Kabu is right, dwarven maps never lie to relative size. I know how those maps are forged, they get telescopes and use math to see how close or far things are from each other. The far lands are at most only a year's travel like Kabu said." added dusk
"How does math tell you anything about distance? you dwarf have a weird way of measuring stuff when you can just go up to the things your measuring" replied Claire
"well whatever the case lets prey it doesn't take more than a year and a half to get there. were starting to run out of food and its best not to rely on dusks healing too much."
I said
After 3 more weeks of travel the land started to turn darker and darker, eventually grass and wildlife simply stopped growing.
We ran out of food a week ago and had been relying on monsters and animals we found.
I had a very bad feeling of what was going on.
Despite the area being dark the sun was somehow still shining bright, it didn't make a lick of sense.
As I was staring into the sky wondering away at my thoughts for a split second they disappeared and came back.
"Wait, something is approaching us. get ready to fight" I said
Before I could fully unsheathe my sword something came hurling down from the sky.
It landed behind our backline where Claire was.
As I looked back I saw a wyvern, an A class monster.
Wyverns were creatures similar to dragons, however instead of having four legs and two wings on their back, wyverns had two wings attached to their front legs.
The one thing dragons and wyverns had the most in common was their fire breath.
As the wyvern got ready to fire its fire breath at Claire Kabu acted quickly by getting in the way to block the fire breath with his large shield.
Unfortunately due to it being a surprise Kabu didn't have much time to reinforce himself using his skill, so currently he was blocking it with his body on the line.
Somehow some of the fire managed to slither around the shield and burn Kabu's arm.
"AHHHH" yelled Kabu, however he didn't let go.
Kabu knew if he lets go that Claire would be in danger, worst case scenario the entire party.
"CLAIRE, FOCUS. CAST REINFORCE ON KABU" I yelled.
With that Claire snapped out of her shock and started chanting her spell
The wyvern suddenly stopped the fire breath when noticing mana coming from Claire.
Instinctively the wyvern stopped tried to attack Claire.
I didn't give it the chance to even get close.
I quickly cut off the right hand that it was about to swing down with.
Claire finished her chanting and casted reinforcement on Kabu.
Afterwards she quickly went back to chanting.
The wyvern was focused on me, it turned around and smacked me with its tail I managed to block the attack with my shield but that wasn't enough to stop myself from being flung away.
With me being thrown away Kabu gets in front of the wyvern and uses his taunt skill.
The skill worked successfully and managed to anger the wyvern and focus on him.
Claire managed to finish her chant and casted earth spike, A giant spike came from right under the wyvern and plunged himself through the wyvern.
"Ok we did it" said Claire.
"Let's go find Leon, which way did he get flung to?"
As they turned around to try and find where I got thrown the dragon as if coming back to life tried doing one last fire breath.
As it was about to torch everyone, I sliced its head off.
"Make sure the monsters are dead next time guys." I said.
I was pretty beat up, had a little blood coming out of my mouth and I had an insane headache and I could barely feel my leg.
"Come let me heal you two" Said dusk, it was aimed at both me and Kabu.
After we healed up we went back to traveling.
After an hour or I heard footsteps behind me.
I stopped walking and asked if anyone heard that.
It was pretty dark so no one could see very well.
I unsheathed my sword and got ready to fight, following after me, my party got their weapons as well.
"Judging from the footsteps it was most likely a humanoid type monster." I said
"Illuminate" said Claire with a light orb of magic appeared out of her staff.
She sent the orb towards the direction the sounds came from.
The darkness started to slowly disappear to show a human.
"Shaie?" I said
"Welp you caught me."
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE" I yelled
although it was a familiar face we didn't let our guard down, it could be an illusion or a mimic type monster.
"Its me guys not a monster, remember I told you about the flyer that sent you on this very quest."
We were hesitant after all if it was a mimic monster it wouldn't have memory of that, but that still left one option out in the open illusion magic.
"DESPELL" yelled out dusk, and nothing happened.
After that we put away our weapons as Shaie approached.
"Were you following us?" I asked
"I just wanted to see what a real party looked like combat, besides you guys need me right now. Without a rogue you can't even see where you're going." He said
He was right aside from ordinary rouge skills they also had incredible eyesight to see further than anyone else can.
"Well it's not like we can send him back anymore, we're too far in." said Kabu.
"Does anyone else think we should leave him?" I asked.
Everyone shook their head side to side to say no.
Then we heard a growling sound coming from Shaie's stomach.
"What have you been eating for the past 3 weeks?" I asked
"Shaie simply laughed."
Dusk simply approached him to cast healing magic on him to relief his hunger.
After Shaie joined us we traveled for a week longer.
We managed to find normal land again with animals and grass.
We hunted some shed deers and horned rabbit to eat.
We continued on and whenever we need food we rested while some of us tracked down something to eat, those who hunted that time didn't need to cook and simply rest while the meal is being cooked same for the other way around, those who cooked rested until they found something to eat.
After a week more of travel we found ourselves on a beach.
The water seemed endless.
"Wait, I can see more land on the other side. Let's build a raft from any trees we find." said Shaie
After an hour or so we managed to build a raft, there was a problem it had no sails.
"Does it really matter, it's not like we are going to another country. The land is close we can row there in an hour." said Shaie.
Before I could say anything the water started to bubble up as something slowly started rising up from the water.
We all took a step back and unsheathed our weapons getting ready to fight, Claire had even already started to chant.
"Fear not children, for it is I odd Laguna."
Odd Laguna was the embodiment of water itself often known as the life giver Odd Laguna.
Hearing that we all put away our weapons and knelt.
"Forgive us, we didn't know it was you" I said
Though Odd Laguna isn't technically a it had the same power and thus status of one.
Odd Laguna was more akin to an outer god than a god.
"You are forgiven. I am here to help you cross this body of water." said Odd Laguna
Odd Laguna had taken the shape women the body was see through since it was made of water and below the torso was just water connecting to the large body of water.
"We are thankful for your help in crossing this ocean Odd Laguna." I said
"Lake" replied odd laguna
"What?" I said
"This body of water isn't an ocean but rather a lake."
Stammering a little bit I replied by saying.
"Uhh.. yeah. We are thankful for your help in crossing this lake"
"Just get on the raft and I will sail you to the other side."
We all got on the raft, everything seemed peaceful.
We even had lunch on the raft.
After an hour of sailing we reached the other side.
Once we reach there we dock the raft on the beach.
"Wait what do we do with the leftovers? should we offer them to Odd Laguna?" Said Shaie
"Yeah sure, whatever that means" I replied with.
We had already packed everything and started walking.
As Shaie threw the left over horned rabbit meat into the water we heard something.
"Wesh."
As I turn to see what Shaie is doing I see his head flying cut off from his main body.
"SHAIE" I screamed.
I threw my backbag on the ground and started running towards the body, while doing so I unsheath my weapon and grabbed my shield.
What kind of monster was it that killed him? I had my party running after me to.
Before I could reach Shaie, before his body could even hit the ground a large chunk of water starts to appear out of the lake.
"YOU DARE. YOU DARE"
Screamed Odd Laguna.
"AFTER BEING SO KIND TO YOU, YOU DARE THROW FILTHY FOOD AT ME?"
hearing this I instinctively tried calming down Odd Laguna.
"WAIT THAT WASN'T WHAT WE INTENDED" I screamed.
Odd Laguna wasn't having it, the weather that just sunny started to turn cloudy and thunderous.
" I WILL KILL YOU"
Screamed odd Laguna.
