Prologue: rebirth

Devoured by the void, floating through time and space, searching, searching for something, someone, not knowing what that would lead to.

Suddenly, he felt pain—excruciating pain—under his feet, over his head, everywhere.

The void, darker than dark, blacker than black, unable to produce light. Voiceless. Consumed his surroundings

Until he saw her.

Within that same void, there was a girl in a beautiful white dress, her face blurred, but he could hear her humming a tune he found familiar, walking around him as if she were examining him, as if she were familiar with him.

"Please, please don't forget. You have to remember, you must remember, this time..."

Calling out to him to remember, to not forget, calling out for a memory he no longer possessed.

He was... empty. An empty vessel.

The only thing he could do was watch as the unfamiliar girl was trying to get his attention.

"This time is different. This time, both of us will live. This time... this time you'll save me, right? Me and everyone else... right?"

He didn't understand a single word. His mind filled with questions.

But most importantly...

No matter how much he tried...

He couldn't remember who he was.

He was sure of his existence as he could clearly see the weeping girl in front of him, but...

The girl softly spoke again.

"I can't be of any use to you for now. You must go. But please promise me that you'll try."

He tried to answer her, but his mouth opened, and no words came out.

The pain.

He could only focus on the pain surrounding his body.

As the void began to crumble on itself, revealing glimpses of light—like big stars shining far, far away—the bright light that followed almost blinded him.

Before his consciousness faded away, the girl's dark, black, ruffled hair waved as if there was a gust of wind passing through it, and her last words were heard by him.

"P-please, t-this is your last chance."

"You."

"Will..."

At that moment, he was reborn.
