I always thought my girlfriend, Aria, was just an ordinary village girl—sweet smile, soft voice, easily embarrassed when I held her hand. Nothing about her suggested she was secretly stronger than every hero written in the kingdom's history books.
I learned the truth on a perfectly normal morning.
We were heading to town when the sky cracked open with purple flames. A monstrous figure emerged—horns, wings, burning eyes—the Demon Lord Varzath himself. People screamed and ran, but I froze like a terrified chicken. Varzath raised his hand, gathering a sphere of dark magic so powerful it made the air tremble.
"Step aside, human," he growled. "I'm here for the girl."
"For… Aria?" I squeaked.
Aria sighed, brushing dust off her dress. "I told him to stop following me," she muttered. Then she turned to me with the calmest smile. "Eren, can you hold my bag?"
Before I could ask why, Aria vanished from my side and appeared right in front of the Demon Lord—her fist already connecting with his jaw. The mighty Varzath flew across the sky like a shooting star, landing in a distant mountain with an explosion so loud it shook the clouds.
I stared at the bag she'd handed me. It felt unreal that the girl who needed help reaching the top shelf could casually send the Demon Lord into orbit.
Varzath crawled out of the rubble, trembling. "P-Please… have mercy…"
"No," Aria replied flatly. "Stop bothering me while I'm on a date."
She flicked her finger. Just a flick. And the Demon Lord collapsed like a puppet with its strings cut.
The town was silent. Everyone stared at her. I swallowed hard.
"Aria," I whispered, "who… exactly are you?"
She walked back, cheeks slightly pink. "Um… sorry. I might've forgotten to tell you. I'm the former Supreme Battle Goddess. I retired."
"Retired?!"
She took my hand, smiling shyly. "But now I just want to be your girlfriend. Is that okay?"
Honestly, I wasn't sure whether to faint or propose on the spot.
But one thing was clear:
My girlfriend is stronger than the Demon Lord.
And apparently… that was only the beginning.
