My Wife Is a Demon Queen – Volume 2
Elias had barely accepted the word husband when the ground trembled beneath them. From the dark forest emerged armored figures—demonic, towering, each carrying jagged halberds that pulsed with magic.
"Your Majesty!" the lead general roared. "We sensed a foreign presence. Step aside—we will eliminate the human."
Elias swallowed hard.
The Demon Queen stepped between them. "You will do nothing."
The general's eyes widened. "Your Majesty, a pact bond— with a human? The Council will never—"
"Let the Council speak to me," she snapped. Shadows coiled around her feet like serpents. "And they will kneel."
The soldiers hesitated, fear creeping into their expressions. The Queen turned sharply. "We return to the Obsidian Citadel. Now."
As they marched, Elias felt every demon gaze drilling into him. But the Queen walked beside him, silent and unreadable.
Finally, he whispered, "Why did you defend me?"
She didn't look at him. "Because you are my consort."
"That's the only reason?"
A pause.
"No," she admitted. "The resonance bond… feels different with you. Unpredictable."
They reached the Citadel—an enormous fortress carved from black crystal, floating above a sea of lava. Inside, demons knelt as the Queen entered, though many cast venomous looks at Elias.
The moment she reached the throne, hooded figures appeared—the Demon Council.
"Queen Azeryn," the eldest hissed, "you violate ancient law by binding yourself to a human."
Azeryn—Elias's wife—rose, her power rippling like a storm. "I follow the law. The souls chose. He bears a resonance unheard of for millennia."
The council sneered. "Then prove it. Let the human undergo the Trial of Kings. If he survives, we acknowledge the bond. If he fails—"
Their eyes slid to Elias.
Azeryn's aura flared, but Elias stepped forward. "I'll do it."
She turned to him sharply. "Elias, this trial will kill you."
"Maybe," he said, meeting her blazing golden eyes. "But I won't let your people tear you down because of me."
For a long moment, she stared at him—conflicted, furious, and something softer hiding underneath.
Finally, she whispered, "Very well, my husband. Prepare yourself."
The Trial of Kings awaited.
And it had never been survived by a human.
