Chapter 22 - Aftermath

One Week Later

The news spread fast.

KNUCKLE—the masked vigilante—had brutally beaten a rising gangster.

No face. No identity. Only blood, broken bones, and fear left behind.

Social media exploded with shaky clips, blurred shadows, and whispered theories.

The student reported everything he saw that night to the police.

Kid was hospitalized for days, his body barely holding together.

Once stabilized, he was taken directly into custody.

Officially, the charges were limited:

– Murder of Erika

– Illegal firearms

– Attempted escape

But the police knew…

Kid wasn't just a criminal.

He was a door to something far worse.

Custody Room

The room smelled of disinfectant and sweat.

Kid sat cuffed, slouched in the chair, bloodstains still visible beneath fresh bandages.

Officers questioned him for hours.

He smiled.

Mocked.

Dodged every answer.

Then—

"He's here," one officer whispered.

The door opened.

A man walked in calmly, his presence heavy enough to silence the room.

Officer Conoratte.

Recently transferred.

Feared.

Respected.

Rumors followed him like ghosts:

He had executed a politician's son in an "encounter"

The case involved rape

No apology. No regret.

All officers stood and saluted.

Conoratte sat across from Kid and placed a deck of cards on the table.

He studied Kid quietly.

"We've gathered enough information about your… gang," Conoratte said calmly.

"I'll ask you questions. You'll tell me whether they're true or false."

Kid laughed weakly.

"You don't know anything. The real criminal is KNUCKLE. Why don't you catch him?"

He smirked. "Oh wait—you can't."

—SLASH

Conoratte stabbed a pen straight through Kid's hand.

CRACK—!

Kid screamed.

Officers froze.

Conoratte leaned forward, expression unchanged.

"Next time," he said softly, lighting a cigarette,

"this pen goes through your neck."

Silence.

Blood dripped onto the floor.

Conoratte spread the cards across the table.

"A king. A queen. A jack."

"And above them all—an ace."

He tapped the table.

"We caught you. That means the Jack is out of the game."

"So tell me—what does your ace do now?"

Kid stared at the cards.

Then, slowly—

With his bleeding hand—

He placed a JOKER card on top.

"You got one thing wrong, officer."

Conoratte raised an eyebrow.

"We're not led by an ace."

Blood soaked the Joker card.

Kid smiled through the pain.

"We're led by a LIAR."

The word spread through the station like poison.

Conoratte smiled.

"Interesting…"

"So where do I find this Mr. Liar?"

Cut to black.

(Glimpse I)

An abandoned building.

A rotting basement.

Screams echoed.

One by one—

Men vanished into the darkness.

Two gang members huddled together, shaking.

"He's back…" one whispered.

"Who's back?" the other asked.

Before he could finish—

SPLASH

Blood covered his face.

He turned.

A headless body collapsed beside him.

He screamed.

"I—I don't want to die!"

A massive silhouette stepped forward.

The figure whispered:

"You don't want to die?"

The man nodded violently.

"Good."

"Then tell me where you're hiding her."

"Straight… then left… first room," the man gasped.

The figure nodded.

"Thank you."

Relief washed over the man.

He ran.

BOOM—!

His body exploded.

A grenade pin dangled from a thread—attached to the headless corpse.

The figure reached the door.

CRASH—!

Inside, a girl sat trembling in the corner.

The figure stepped forward.

"Hello, darling."

"Who… who are you?" she cried.

The voice replied calmly:

"A God—for you."

"But others call me… LIAR."

(Glimpse II)

A lone figure stood in darkness.

A syringe pressed into his arm.

HISS

Veins glowed.

Eyes turned pure white.

"It's time," the figure whispered,

"to take what's mine."

(Jason – Present)

Jason reopened his boxing gym.

No banners.

No trophies.

Just people.

He taught them how to defend themselves.

How to stand up.

How to survive.

Hope returned—slowly.

By day, he was a mentor.

By night, he hunted.

His promise wasn't complete.

He still visited the graves—

His brother.

His father.

Erika.

He stood alone.

Always.

But the hunt had begun.

And the LIAR was no longer a rumor.
