Fifteen hours later, Selene gets a call.
"His Highness is in the ICU. He had to endure a little over ten hours of surgery with two rounds of MRI scans. After the first MRI, we had to take him back into surgery for further repairs. He will remain in ICU to closely monitor his condition while induced in a coma. Given the latest of the hour, it would be advisable the Queen only comes tomorrow morning," the doctor informs her and she agrees.
Selene slips back into the bedroom, and so softly wakes Carolyn. After giving her a moment to calm down from waking in panic, she tells her Max was out of surgery, but he is still asleep in an induced coma to help his body heal from the surgery.
Carolyn, after a moment, digested this and stopped her intent of rushing out of the bedroom.
Selene continued. "The doctor claims the surgery was majority a success and prefers that you stay here until the morning. The doctor will attempt to wake Max then. Only then, will they know how much, if any, the damage of the spinal cord had sustained, as they had to repair a few tears to it. And his head wound was not severe with a possible minor concussion. The doctor said he or the medical team would keep me posted during the night."
Carolyn wanted to object but agreed it was best. After a shower, and a light meal, Carolyn was given another mild sleeping tablet by the Palace Doctor, to help her sleep and passed off an hour later.
