Not long after, three tall figures came running down the mountaintop responding to her call. She hurriedly explained to prevent me from proceeding further. It seemed like the Yetis understood her and charged straight at me.
I cracked my neck and knuckles and said, "Seems like I need to beat them to pass through."
One of the yeti ran towards me before I ducked and counter with a punch to the gut. The yeti curled up like a shrimp on the ground before whimpering away. The other two yetis were much more cautious as they approached me but I didn't give them a chance before I ran towards them. The two yetis were enraged by the provocation and ran towards me together.
One tried to grab me from the front while the other reached for my legs. Unfortunately for them, I foresaw the tactic and jumped to the side as they collided with each other. I then kicked one of the downed yeti's head causing it to pass out while the other was too scared to move.
Lin was watching our battle-I mean beatdown with shock as she couldn't believe a normal human being can top the physical strength of a yeti, much less three of them. I figured it's time to end this beatdown so I snapped my fingers before the three yetis were tied up by the Shadow Chains.
I walked towards Lin and asked, "Is that it? You know this whole situation wouldn't have happened if you didn't attack me. Speaking of which, why did you try to kill me?"
Lin can't muster any strength and her legs gave out before weakly responding in broken English, "I-I'm the guardian of this place. I cannot have suspicious people near here."
I squatted down in front of her and reached for her head. Lin flinched as she awaited her doomed fate before she felt a sting on her forehead. Lin opened her eyes from the pain I flicked on her forehead.
Lin weakly asked, "Why? Weren't you going to kill me?"
I smirked and replied, "When did I say I was going to kill you?"
I slowly stood up and I pointed at the mountaintop ahead. I looked at Lin and said, "That's my destination. But I think you knew that since I got this far."
Lin bowed her head in depression as she couldn't protect the location of the pool any longer.
She looked up at me before murmuring to herself, "He doesn't look evil nor someone who will take advantage of this knowledge. He had the chance to kill the yetis and me but he only subdued us. It's worth taking this risk."
Lin asked, "Um excuse me, sir. Can you please let go of my friends? They were only trying to protect me and that place."
I looked over to the three yetis before I undid their bindings, setting them free.
I turned towards Lin and said, "No need to call me sir. That makes me feel old. Just call me Y/N."
Lin nodded and introduced herself, "My name is Lin. Protector of the gateway to Shangri-La along with the yetis. Can you please tell me why you're looking for Shangri-La?"
I shook my head and replied, "You should probably wait till I meet with your mother Zi Yuan later. Whether you still treat me as your enemy or not, depends on her decision."
Lin looked shocked before saying, "H-How did you know about mom? And huh?! I'm so confused."
After calming herself down, she said, "We should see mom. I think all my questions will be answered there."
I agreed and let Lin lead the way up to the entrance of Shangri-La while the yetis lagged behind, still not trusting of me. The trek did not take long and reached the entrance of the cave. The yetis stayed outside to guard as well as nurse their bruises.
The cave was obviously a natural formation but I can see some man made construction and not before long, we came in front of the Pool of Eternal Life. The water was shimmering with vitality as it extended towards the forest ahead. I see a wondrous forest filled with life and untamed wilderness as the birds chirped in the distance.
While I was mesmerized by the sight of Shangri-La, Lin slipped away and found her mother Zi Yuan and explained the current situation. Both mother and daughter quickly came down from their room and graciously waited till I snapped out of it. It took a few more minutes before I could extricate myself from the view. By the time I turned back, I saw Lin and Zi Yuan waiting for me.
Zi Yuan came forward and greeted, "Greetings traveler, I have heard from my daughter you wanted to speak to me about something?"
I nodded and replied, "Yes, Ms. Zi Yuan. My name is Y/N Ashborn and I am here for the Pool of Eternal Life as well as Shangri-La."
Zi Yuan's eyes shrank before assuming a battle stance as well as Lin. I didn't give them a chance before there were Shadow Knights behind them brandishing their swords by their necks. The mother-daughter duo stopped in their intentions as they felt the sharp feeling on their necks.
I found a rock and sat down before continuing, "You don't need to be on guard so much. If anything, I am doing you a favor. If I take away the pool as well as Shangri-La, then the Dragon Emperor will never be able to wake up and escape his eternal prison. I will even take the Eye of Shangri-La from the British government as it contained a small amount of elixir from the pool. I will even bring your husband to life in a way for you to live together. Will that suffice?"
Both Zi Yuan and Lin had their mouths open in shock before Zi Yuan snapped out of it and shouted, "How?! How do you know about the Dragon Emperor as well as his curse? And you know about Ming? Can you really bring him back?"
Zi Yuan looked very distraught as the thought of her love being in front of her again was tempting as well as the following conditions. Her mission to keep the Dragon Emperor sealed had worn down her soul from the centuries of keeping watch over the Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
Even her daughter was brought up to take on this heavy burden. The thought of the release from this duty had too much appeal for her.
Zi Yuan relented and said, "I-I agree to your proposal, Mr. Ashborn. I only ask how will you take everything away?"
I replied with determined eyes, "Don't worry, I'll be taking it away but I have a question for both of you. When I take everything away, will you come out and live with people once again and live an ordinary life? Or stay secluded? There is so much more to life than hiding here, after all. You may even go around the world with your daughter as well as your husband."
Zi Yuan hesitated as she never thought of life after the death of her husband.
She looked towards Lin and felt regretful for her life so far and said, "We will be going down and start travelling around the world. I agree with you and I owe this to my daughter."
The Shadow Knights stood down and guarded the entrance of the cave. Zi Yuan looked over the Shadow Knights before walking towards her room overlooking the pool and grabbing something.
It didn't take long before she presented her spell book she found centuries ago to curse the Dragon Emperor. It gave her no happiness as it eventually led to the death of her husband so she was willing to part with it.
Zi Yuan gave me the spell book before saying, "This spell book was used to seal the Dragon Emperor and I hope this would be of some help to you."
I thanked her and informed her to prepare for the eventual move. I also told her to take vials from the pool for her and her daughter to use, in case they get hurt in the future. She agreed and asked Lin to help take vials of elixir. I took pity and gave Zi Yuan a storage bracelet. It looks crudely made as it was one of the successful training bracelets I made in my early trials.
I also gave them sufficient gold and supplies to live off for years to come. I told Zi Yuan how to function the bracelet as she was a witch herself and knows mana. She thanked me on behalf of her and Lin.
A few more days passed before it was the agreed time. Zi Yuan and Lin were outside the cave with the yetis waiting for me to take Shangri-La away with the pool. I stood by the pool before shadows covered the entire pool and transferred away in my Shadow Storage. The whole process was seamless and didn't cause any problems with the transfer. I placed the pool next to the temporary house inside.
Next thing to transfer is Shangri-La and fortunately the whole place is like a pocket dimension of its own. No wonder people could not find Shangri-La without first passing through the abandoned monastery. I closed my eyes and concentrated the shadows around the dimensional pocket as it slowly covered the whole place. I felt resistance for a while before taking full control and transferred Shangri-La in the Shadow Storage.
Once I placed Shangri-La by the Pool of Eternal Life, it immediately connected and started producing water around the whole area. The whole place now looks like an island along the ocean. The ecosystem is now sustainable and only needs to be synced up to the outside world for a day and night cycle.
Now with the initial formation of a world inside the Shadow Storage, it is better to call it my Shadow World. A safe haven for me and the girls in case a situation I could not deal with appears in the future.
I walked out of the cave before appearing before Zi Yuan and Lin. I told them it was done and her duty has been completed. The moment she heard my words, she felt her body relax as the burden she and her daughter carried finally came to an end. T
he mother-daughter duo said goodbye to the yetis and to live for themselves. I came before the two before opening a Shadow Portal to the base of the Himalayan Mountains.
A portal opened on the base of the Himalayan Mountains as I walked through and the two women. The whole experience was quick as they never thought that travelling was very convenient with the portal. I took out my Humvee and told the two to get inside. I took the driver's seat and drove towards the Great Wall of China.
The whole drive took a few days before finally reaching the Great Wall. I had Zi Yuan lead the way towards the underground chamber where she laid her husband's bones to rest. We came upon the coffin containing her husband's bones and there was still some resentment flowing from the coffin.
I told Zi Yuan, "You're in luck. Your husband still had enough resentment for me to resurrect him. I hope you will take care of each other for the years to come. I will attach him to your life so that as long as you are alive, he will survive. The same goes if you die, he dies."
Zi Yuan nodded and opened the stone casket with difficulty before the top crashed to the floor. As the dust settled, a skeleton was laid bare inside. Though it was lacking an arm, the rest was in good condition. I walked over before hovering my hand over the skeleton and muttered, "Arise."
A tall heroic Chinese general crawled from the shadow of the skeleton before kneeling on the ground proclaiming, "Thank you, my Lord. I will be your steadfast warrior on the battlefield."
"Ming" continued kneeling on one knee, awaiting my order. I told him to be at ease and look behind him. He nodded and turned around to see a crying Zi Yuan and a sobbing Lin. The mother daughter duo never thought they would see this man alive in their "immortal" lives and yet here he is; alive and immortal.
"Ming" was shocked to say the least, for who he sees is his wife and an unfamiliar woman next to her. The last memory he had of Zi Yuan was persuading her to not give in to the Dragon Emperor's demands before ruthlessly killed by the Four Horsemen execution.
Zi Yuan called out, "Ming, is that you? Is it really you?"
She reached out and held her husband's face for the first time in centuries. Her rugged face brought back memories when they first fell for each other. She only buried her face on his chest sobbing away. Lin was also sobbing as I noticed her looking towards "Ming."
I called out to "Ming" and said, "You should also comfort your daughter. She never got to know you besides stories about you."
"Ming" was surprised to hear he had a daughter before coming to the conclusion that Zi Yuan was pregnant with his child when he was killed. He knew what to do and raised his other arm, gesturing to Lin to come over as well.
Lin saw this and ran to her father sobbing like her mother beside her. A touching family scene can be seen as their family is complete.
I commanded "Ming" and said, "You will be protecting your family till the day they die. You are free from my service and live your life for you and your family."
I bonded "Ming" to both Zi Yuan and Lin for the rest of their "immortal" lives.
"Ming" let go of his wife and daughter before he stood in front of me and kowtowed in gratitude. Zi Yuan and Lin followed and also kowtowed as well for bringing their family together again. I took their gratitude and wished them the best.
I gave them some tips on either settling in countries like Egypt or the USA or in South Korea. If they decide to go to Egypt, I can introduce them to the Medjays. If they decide to head to the USA, they can settle in New York City and tell them to invest their money in oil and stocks as well as automobiles.
If they head to South Korea, it may be a bit difficult since it is still under Japanese rule but they can keep an eye out on a grocery trading store and invest in their business as they will bloom in the decades to come. The family of three took my advice to heart and planned their future accordingly.
With all said and done, I bid them farewell and left a spare vehicle for them to use as well as gas, food, and water. I sensed the far Shadow signatures and picked one close to Egypt and opened my Shadow Portal. I stepped in and disappeared from the underground tomb.
In an inconspicuous ridge overlooking the sands below, a Shadow Portal appeared and I slowly stepped out. I took a short break as that took a toll on his magic. Cross-Country teleportation will have to be taken into account when I use them in the future.
For now, I can't do it frequently unless I want my magic to bottom out quickly. Fortunately I'm already by Egypt and I can take a detour through the ruins of Thebes to retrieve the Bracelet of Anubis. Either way, the trip to the East was considered a success.
I set up camp as the sun was setting soon and built a fire for warmth. I took out a survival tent and laid a cot inside with a comforter and a pillow and blanket. I had a lantern hanging inside the tent for light.
I took out some beef and made a simple marinade to brush over the meat for grilling later. I cooked dinner and ate the juicy meat with fat dripping on the fire, making them sizzle. The aroma was heavenly as I grabbed the barbeque meat over the fire and sat down on the chair I set up outside earlier.
I took out a cold beer to enjoy the night sky, wondering what surprises are in store in the future. The cold wind silently blew through the camp as the fire flickered with every breeze it passed.
The shimmering night sky was breathtaking as the stars were twinkling while meteors streaked the sky.
