Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 Saving Layla

Chapter 1

"Sigh, why is it raining so much today." Alex, who had gone on an emergency shopping spree at night, couldn't help but sigh as it continued to rain.

Though he had brought an umbrella, because of the too much stuff he had purchased, he couldn't share the balanced strength towards the two of them, making his way back home a little troubled.

"Now, I only need to cross this road." He muttered, since it was late in the night, he ignored the light on the traffic signal and began to cross.

Whistling and humming, he had already crossed half of the road, when all of a sudden his line of sight became too white that he couldn't help but adjust his umbrella to see in front, but just as another second passed by, a heavy sound came crashing on his ears.

It was the sound of a truck, and it was coming at him at full speed.

"Don't tell me." He muttered, clutching the groceries in his hand and turning to look at the incoming vehicle; however, it was too late it seemed, as just a second later he heard the screeching sound of tires and then nothing.

The rain had stopped when Alex opened his eyes back ; but his body felt heavy and soaked. He looked up at the sky which was gray, there were still some clouds hovering.

"Where is this place?" He asked, if he remembered it right, wasn't he supposed to be on that road. Why had he awakened here?

He looked around himself, and all he could see was rice fields, no buildings, street lights, just rows of green plants and a narrow path leading to a cluster of thatched houses in the far distance.

"What is this place?" He mumbled, sitting up slowly, his hand pressing into the soft mud of the field.

Alex looked down at himself and realised that his shirt and jeans were gone too. Instead, he wore rough brown pants and a short-sleeved shirt made of coarse cloth, his feet were bare, his 300$ shoes gone.

'Did I get transmigrated or something?' Alex thought inwardly getting up and deciding to make his way towards the thatched hut first.

The fresh breeze greeted Alex while the mud sucked at his feet, as he cleared some distance he could see the small amount of smoke rising from one of the houses.

However, just as he had gotten a hope, suddenly a scream broke the serenity, it came from behind him.

Alex turned around, and ran towards the source of the voice, his bare feet slapping the wet ground making the funny voice.

"Get away from you monster." It was a young woman, covered in mud while holding a wooden sword, waving it frantically towards a creature that looked like a slime, but had no cute features but ferociousness.

The young woman fought, but in just a few seconds she slipped on the ground twice, while taking the slime's acidic attack which burnt her clothes.

'Should I help?' Alex wondered, though it was just a slime but it's dog like size looked a little intimidating, but at the same time realising something he rushed forward and kicked th gooey slime as hard as he could, almost yelling.

As expected the kick didn't have much effect on the slime, but the kick still managed to send it off a little away, giving him a chance to ask for the wooden sword.

"Miss are you alright?" He asked, being a little polite.

"Yes?" The woman shaken a bit from the monster encounter muttered; however, then realising that she was probably saved she immediately got up and hugged Alex, while crying, "you saved me. Thank you, thank you so much."

"You should calm down and take a deep breath." Alex grabbed the clinging woman from her shoulder and pushed her a little back, "That slime, its not dead yet."

The young woman hearing that began to panic once again; however, Alex who had a little bit of experience in calming down people, placed his hand on her head trying to make her realise that he was still here and then picked up the wooden sword to face the slime.

'i hope this will be as easy as they say in those novels.' he thought, looking at Green glug that was jumping it's way towards him.

The thing jiggled it's way in the air for a second and spat drops of acid.

The air hissed as the acid made it way towards Alex with great speed; however, since this was an attack he had already anticipated, he easily dodged it and then rush towards the slime and swung his sword as hard as he could.

Contrary to Alex's anticipation, the sword quite easily cut through slime's gooey body and making its green liquid splashing everywhere, making hissing sound.

The young woman, who had panick written all over her beautiful face, looked at Alex with surprise, 'Did this man killed a slime in just single strike?' she thought.

The terror of slimes had plagued this kingdom, and their village was even more effected by it, but despite all of that, she hadn't seen any person in her village achieving such feat.

Her heart suddenly began to throb, not in pain but excitement, 'Layla, what are you thinking? You have a fiancee.' she suddenly reminded herself, placing her hand on her chest.

Meanwhile, on the other hand Alex who was not aware of the young woman's feelings, bent down on the ground noticing a small crystel glowing on the ground.

'is this monster core.' Alex tried to pick up the core, but the moment his hand touched the core, it disintegrated; leaving few words that appeared in front of him out of nowhere.

[Title Slime slayer achieved]

[A small part of slime's core has merged with your body, you can now use some of slime's abilities]

'What's this? A system?' Alex thought, but for it to be a system the notifications had disappeared as soon as they were announced.
