Chapter 14 - The secret place!!

If you have one person to choose to live with for the rest of your life who would it be?

Chris's POV

"Why did you say those things to Ash?", I asked Laila.

"Because she is getting on my nerves. I hate her and I hate that you helped her with those guys at the freshers. Let her be. Why do you have to do with her?", Laila replied.

"You don't have any right to tell me what to do or ask me any questions. I had already made you clear that we're together just for fun and you agreed. Just know your limits and don't interfere in my personal life.", I shouted.

"Fine. I won't be interfering now. I'm going to my parent's place for a few days. Will you join me like you did last time at Detroit?", Laila asked me.

"No. And please leave me alone for now.", I replied.

Laila left.

The last time I went Detroit I met Ashtine for the first time. I still remember the night I met her. She was dressed in red and looked pretty. Its not like I haven't seen girls prettier than her but there's something which keeps me attracted to her. She must be hurt with what Laila said to her and again she got hurt because of me. Its better if I don't go to college for a few days. This will keep her mind away from me and help her focus on her studies.

Ash's POV

The next few days went by without any surprise. It was already a month now that I came here at Princeton. My routine was set and everything was going well. Also it was a relief that I hadn't seen Chris & Laila last few days. But my mind kept thinking where are they? Together, maybe!

"Its good that you're slowly adapting to your new routine.", said Mom on call.

"And I've joined a new club too. Its a readers club called "The Book Nook" and I've to be there in twenty minutes. I'll call you later Mom.", I replied.

"Okay honey. Take care. I love you!!", Mom replied.

One thing good about joining that club would be that I'll be surrounded with people who share same interests as me. Unlike that freshers where everyone was opposite of me.

I reached the club. There were not many but a few students. Soon when everyone gathered we started our own discussions about the new authors and their creations. I was also feeling comfortable until I heard people calling a name, "Hey Chris! Glad you came.".

He? Why's he here? Does he have my phone's GPS because every time I'm somewhere he reaches there. After so many days I finally found a place to be comfortable and now its snatched from me by him. Although I won't deny that I also felt a bit of happiness after seeing him after so many days. We had last met on the freshers night and after everything Laila said to me I didn't see him.

"Hey guys. I'll introduce you all to Chris. He's a sophomore at Princeton and a keen book reader. His last year's assignment was featured in Princeton's yearly book. That is a huge achievement as you all know.", the club's president John told us.

I was really shocked to know about all this. This flirt has a different side to him too which he does not show. Being Mrs. Wilson's favorite student and now his story published in the year book, I think he's got something which is maybe a talent or interest. At that time I really wanted to ask him why he's like that but then I got back to senses and Whatever....

"Hello everyone I'm Chris. I would suggest you all to set your weekly targets of reading so that at the end of your semester you have a dozen of books to write a summary about. Books give you ideas. They open new doors of imagination and creativity. Its like a gateway to a different world. If you want to escape reality, books are the right thing to go to. As keen readers as you are all the best!", Chris talked.

For the first time ever I enjoyed his talks. I wanted him to not stop speaking. His words felt magical and every one in the room was visibly touched. I'm getting to see a different side of his.

Everyone clapped. I clapped too!

He knew I was there too but good thing he didn't make a scene as he did in the class. I also focused on reading and didn't pay attention to him much. Many girls went to him to ask for his number and he didn't deny. Obviously. Why would he. The king of flirts he is after all. I kept looking at him while he was busy sharing his social media accounts and phone numbers. There was one time when his eyes caught me looking at him and I suddenly looked down at my book. I looked up again and he was smiling.

Everyone was leaving and I was also waiting for the bus. Suddenly Chris came to me and asked, "I can drop you to the campus."

"No. I'm okay. Thanks.", I replied.

"The bus will be here after an hour. Its better if you come with me. Its not like I'll eat you or something.", he said.

I didn't want to be close to him or have any of his favors but at the same time there was no option for me to go back to campus. I didn't want to wait for an hour. And so I agreed.

He was driving and I was looking out of the window. There was an awkward silence in the car. I was feeling hot with the nervousness. His typical smell was all over and I don't know why but its so attractive and addictive.

"Feeling hot butterfly even when the AC's on?", Chris asked.

"No. I'm not.", I replied.

"Let me take you to a place where you would feel good. A cool place.", he said.

"No. There's no need. I'm okay. Just drop me to the campus.", I denied his proposal.

"I promise you won't regret. Just believe me.", he said intensely while looking at me.

His eyes literally know how to hypnotize the other person. With the intensity he looked and me and said those words to believe him I couldn't deny anymore. I become this helpless little creature in front of him who has no choice other than to listen to him.

He drove for about half an hour and now I could see water. My face had a smile looking at the water from a distance. I looked at him and he was already looking at me. "See I told ya you won't regret.", he said.

We parked the car and we were at the beach. It was such a beautiful sight to see. The sunrays kissing the water and sparkling effect it generated. There was a cool breeze and so many trees. The sound of the waves felt so relaxing and it was my first time visiting a beach.

"You alright? Its been a minute and you are just smiling looking at the beach.", Chris asked.

"Its my first time seeing a beach. Its so beautiful. Thank you for bringing me here.", I replied looking at him.

For the first time I felt at ease with him. He gave me comfort. His eyes were sparkling brown with the sunrays. As usual he looked attractive. I haven't seen a guy more handsome and attractive than him.

"You've got to be kidding me!! You haven't visited a single beach all your life? Are you even normal?", Chris asked.

"I never had a chance to go to a vacation. I was always busy with my studies and Mom too didn't have the time to take me to a trip. We were just busy with both of our roles.", I replied.

"Then let me show you what a person does on a beach.", Chris said and he grabbed my hand and ran towards the water.

"No.. Hey!! Chris!!", I shouted but with a laugh.

We both were laughing and running. I don't remember when was the last time that I laughed so hard.

He took some water in his hands and splashed it on my face. The water was cool but it felt good. I did the same. I splashed some water on his face too and be both laughed hard. We continued to do that thing until when we were completely drenched in water. I was tired too. But more than anything I was happy. The reason: Chris.

I didn't know how many girls he had brought here but to me ,This was our secret place.
