Lara's POV
The rage radiating from Austin was unmistakable. Most of his anger focused on Gerry and the cursed alliance bond binding us together, but I could sense his fury stemmed from whatever provocative words Gerry had thrown at him. Knowing Gerry, taunting came as naturally as breathing. When I witnessed Austin beating Gerry with lethal intent, I frantically called for Bill and Rex. Fortunately, Malachi arrived just in time, because restraining Austin required all three men working together.
Now Austin demands to know what I've been concealing from him. I reach for his hand, mindful of his bloodied knuckles.
"Follow me, Austin," I murmur. Too many curious observers surround us here.
Understanding Austin as deeply as I do now, I should have been honest from the start. But sharing his status as a second son, just like Gerry, I feared his reaction. The two men couldn't be more different, yet Gerry hadn't always been the monster he'd become.
