Deon's POV
We arrived at Demetrius's territory only to discover that Damon had already retreated back to his own lands. We had missed him by mere hours.
Getting through Demetrius's defensive traps had taken time. Damon and his warriors had triggered some of them during their retreat, but those traps were the main reason Demetrius's pack rarely faced direct attacks. I had never implemented similar defenses in my own territory because Demetrius occasionally lost pack members when they forgot trap locations. I refused to risk my warriors' lives that way, and I lacked Demetrius's expertise in setting and maintaining such elaborate systems.
Once we finally breached his territory's perimeter, the extent of his pack's injuries became clear.
"How much of this damage came from Damon?" I asked, surveying the wounded warriors scattered throughout the area. These fighters were in no condition to join me in attacking Joseph's pack.
