Chapter 95 - Rule No. 96: Don’t Forget to Enjoy It

Somewhere between the overthinking and the reassurance, Aira forgot something simple.

She was allowed to enjoy this.

Not analyze it.

Not protect it.

Not measure it.

Just enjoy it.

They were sitting on the floor of her living room, backs against the couch, a random movie playing that neither of them was really watching.

Reyhan had come over with food.

Not as a date.

Not as a plan.

Just because he "felt like it."

She liked that about him.

He didn't always need an occasion.

Halfway through the movie, she noticed he had stopped pretending to watch it.

He was just looking at her.

"You're doing that thing again," she said.

"What thing?"

"Looking like you're memorizing something."

He didn't deny it.

"I like this version of you," he said.

"Which one?"

"The one that isn't bracing for impact."

She felt her shoulders relax at that.

"I think I'm getting tired of bracing," she admitted.

"Good."

They didn't say anything after that.

She leaned into him without asking.

He adjusted naturally, his arm coming around her like it had always belonged there.

No tension.

No hesitation.

Just familiarity.

Aira realized something then.

She wasn't nervous.

She wasn't checking for signs.

She wasn't calculating how much to give.

She was just there.

Laughing at scenes that weren't even that funny.

Stealing fries from his plate.

Resting her head on his chest and listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.

This wasn't intensity.

This wasn't heat.

This was comfort.

And comfort, she realized, was harder to build than passion.

"Are you thinking?" Reyhan murmured softly.

"No."

"That's new."

She smiled against his shirt.

"I'm just… here."

He tightened his arm slightly.

"Good."

That night, when he left, she didn't feel anxious.

She didn't replay every word.

She didn't question what it meant.

She just smiled.

And when she opened her notebook, her handwriting looked softer than usual.

RULE #96: Don't forget to enjoy it.

Love isn't only about surviving storms.

Sometimes it's just about sitting in the quiet and smiling.
