Chapter 10 - Chapter 10

Seeing General Ross turned into a pig, the last trace of morale vanished from the soldiers' hearts. Their pupils widened in utter despair.

Earlier, calling Lu Yi a god or demon was merely a metaphor—but now, no one doubted it. From this moment on, in their eyes, Lu Yi was a god-demon.

They were loyal soldiers, not fools. Their minds had not been completely brainwashed by so-called patriotism. They understood what "invincible" truly meant.

And they would not foolishly sacrifice their lives to an undefeatable enemy.

No one knew who was the first, but one soldier suddenly fell to his knees, threw his weapon away like a hot potato, and placed both hands on his head.

His action was clear—he was surrendering to Lu Yi.

Ross had to think about the military's reputation, but these soldiers didn't. They wouldn't give up their last chance to live just for pride.

Like a domino effect, when one knelt, a second followed. Soon, an entire street full of soldiers had thrown down their weapons and surrendered without hesitation.

Pig-turned Ross witnessed this, but in his current state, there was nothing he could do. He could only snort in rage, venting his helpless fury.

"You see, they are the truly smart ones. You're just a fool—a fool who overestimated his strength," Lu Yi said calmly. "Do you know why I spared your life? That's one of the reasons."

"But even if they are smart—since they dared to attack me, they no longer deserve to live."

Lu Yi's figure blurred into a phantom as he moved across the entire street, tapping every surrendered soldier lightly on the neck.

By the time he returned to where he had been standing, every single soldier had collapsed lifelessly to the ground.

They probably never imagined that Lu Yi would slaughter them all—even after they'd surrendered.

Ross was furious—furious beyond words—but in the form of a pig, stripped of identity and authority, he had no power to resist. Lu Yi was too strong, and he was no longer even considered human.

Seeing Ross powerless and humiliated, Lu Yi felt a wave of satisfaction. Transforming him into this pathetic state—yes, that was far better than killing him outright.

Just as Lu Yi was admiring his handiwork, a sharp roar came from the sky. A specialized fighter jet descended rapidly, landing before him under everyone's shocked gaze.

"SHIELD!"

Lu Yi's sharp eyes instantly recognized the eagle insignia on the jet—it was the emblem of S.H.I.E.L.D.

S.H.I.E.L.D. is here too? What do they want? To kill me? To monitor me?

Lu Yi made no attempt to hinder the landing. He simply watched as the aircraft touched down smoothly not far away.

Click.

The ramp opened. A man in a black trench coat, wearing an eye patch, stepped out with a stern expression. Ignoring the kneeling soldiers around him, he walked straight toward Lu Yi.

"Hello, Mr. Lu Yi. My name is Nick Fury, Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. The President has sent me to handle this conflict between you and the military," Fury said, taking a deep breath as he tried to suppress the tension in his voice.

Before coming, he had studied everything about Lu Yi. He had even watched Lu Yi's shocking display through military satellites. He had faced countless threats in his lifetime—but standing before Lu Yi in person, he couldn't help but tremble.

Lu Yi could hear that trembling. At their first meeting, he had already sensed Nick Fury's heartbeat—unsteady, rapid, the rhythm of fear.

Lu Yi thought silently, He must be cursing right now. The military caused the problem, but S.H.I.E.L.D. is stuck cleaning up the mess. I can only imagine what he's feeling.

"Seems you don't want to waste time," Lu Yi said plainly. "Good. Neither do I."

Time was precious. He had no interest in these bureaucratic games.

"We request that you spare these innocent soldiers," Nick Fury said solemnly, "and restore General Ross to his original form, then hand him over to us."

"Oh?" Lu Yi asked, amused. "And what benefit do I get in return?"

"The United States will not place you on its most-wanted list."

Honestly, Nick Fury knew he shouldn't be saying something that stupid—but the politicians insisted on it. And he had to say it publicly.

Sometimes, he wondered if those politicians had brains at all.

"If you were me," Lu Yi asked calmly, "would you accept that?"

"I would," Fury answered immediately.

"Which means," Lu Yi replied with faint mockery, "you're really no different from those politicians."

"Haha… maybe," Fury said awkwardly. "Mr. Lu Yi, will you accept?"

"No."

"As expected," Fury sighed. "From this moment on, S.H.I.E.L.D. will take over this matter. You can make any demands—we seek common ground while accepting differences. We aim for compromise."

Lu Yi had rejected the government's offer, and the situation had escalated beyond the military's control. As the world's leading peacekeeping intelligence agency, S.H.I.E.L.D. had to step in.

Their mission: reduce the crisis to the lowest possible level and maintain global stability—at least on the surface.

That was S.H.I.E.L.D.'s founding purpose.

And more importantly, Nick Fury had no choice—because he had heard Lu Yi's words:

I can break straight into the White House, kill every high-ranking official in America—including the President. Do you think your guards could stop me?
