Chapter 72 - CHAPTER 72 — The Prime in Human Skin

Jason Wu didn't breathe.

Couldn't breathe.

The woman standing before him looked… human.

Too human.

Silver hair tied loosely behind her head, pale skin untouched by time, a simple white robe draped around her like morning mist.

No armor.

No glowing runes.

No cosmic aura.

Just a woman.

But her eyes—

Silver.

Not metallic.

Not spiritual.

Silver like the color of **pure observation**.

Like mirrors that saw far too much.

Jason's fingers tightened around Longwu's hilt.

"…You're the Observer Prime," he said carefully.

She blinked.

Once.

Slowly.

**"Correct."**

Her voice was calm.

Level.

Emotionless.

Not robotic like the Sentinels.

Not mechanical like the System voice.

Just… still.

Too still.

Jason's heart pounded.

He had just escaped the Void Itself.

His nerves were still shaking.

But this—

This was worse.

Longwu's voice whispered sharply:

*["Jason… she is more dangerous than every enemy you've fought—combined."]*

Jason inhaled carefully.

"Why look like a human?"

The woman tilted her head.

**"To avoid unnecessary collapse."**

Jason blinked. "…Collapse of what?"

**"Your psyche."**

Jason's stomach twisted.

It wasn't a threat.

It wasn't even said with malice.

Just a fact.

As if saying:

"The sun rises."

"Water is wet."

"You would mentally explode if you saw my real form."

Jason swallowed.

"…Thanks, I guess."

The Observer Prime stepped closer.

Grass didn't rustle under her feet.

Wind didn't touch her hair.

Light didn't cast her shadow properly.

Jason felt every instinct scream:

**RUN.**

But he didn't move.

He couldn't.

His legs were locked—not by fear, but by her presence.

It wasn't pressure.

It was *priority*.

To the universe, she was more real than he was.

Her hand lifted slightly, not touching him—just hovering in the air near his cheek.

Jason flinched anyway.

Her silver eyes studied him like a scholar examining a rare specimen.

**"You were not meant to survive the Sentinel."**

Jason managed a half-smirk.

"Yeah, well… destiny and I have issues."

She didn't react.

**"You were not meant to accept the Shard."**

Jason snorted.

"I'm starting to see a pattern."

Her gaze narrowed.

**"You were not meant to meet the Riftbound."**

Jason opened his mouth—

Then froze.

"…Wait. You know about them?"

The Observer Prime didn't blink.

**"Everything that exists beyond reality leaves footprints on the timeline."**

Jason stiffened.

"They said you'd come for me."

**"Correct."**

Jason raised Longwu slightly.

"Then let's skip to the part where you try to kill me—"

The Observer Prime raised a single finger.

Jason's throat locked.

He couldn't speak.

Not paralyzed.

Not bound.

His **voice** had been turned off like a switch.

He tried again—

Silence.

The Observer Prime lowered her hand.

**"You misunderstand. I do not kill anomalies."**

Jason rubbed his throat as his voice returned.

"…Then what do you do?"

She stared straight into him.

Through him.

Into something deeper.

**"I evaluate."**

Jason's shoulders relaxed slightly.

But only slightly.

"Evaluate what?"

**"Your trajectory."**

She stepped closer again until she was only an arm's length away.

Jason felt cold.

Not temperature cold.

Existence cold.

She raised her hand and gently placed two fingers on Jason's forehead.

Instantly—

**The world vanished.**

Jason gasped.

He wasn't in a meadow anymore.

He wasn't anywhere.

Scenes flashed around him—

splintering into a thousand fragments.

Jason saw:

—himself overthrowing a tyrant realm

—himself kneeling in chains

—himself holding Lily's hand on a mountaintop

—himself watching Lily die

—himself leading armies

—himself alone in endless space

—himself becoming a beacon

—himself becoming a calamity

—himself smiling

—himself screaming

—himself alive

—himself dead

Some futures were bright.

Some were brutal.

Some were impossible.

But all were **Jason Wu**.

Then the visions collapsed.

Jason found himself on his knees, gasping.

"What—what was that—?"

The Observer Prime stood over him.

Expression unreadable.

**"Possibility mapping."**

Jason coughed. "You looked inside my… future?"

**"Futures."**

Jason swallowed.

"…And what did you see?"

The Observer Prime's silver eyes flickered—

just barely.

**"Unacceptable variance."**

Jason frowned.

"Unacceptable—what does that even mean—"

**"You are unpredictable."**

Jason blinked.

"…Isn't that normal?"

**"Not when unpredictability threatens the structural integrity of reality."**

Jason's blood chilled.

"You're saying… I can destroy reality just by existing?"

**"Eventually, yes."**

Jason stood quickly.

"That's insane."

**"Correct."**

Jason felt a vein in his forehead pulse.

Longwu muttered:

*["Jason, stop asking questions. She'll give honest answers, and honest answers will break you."]*

Jason ignored him.

The Observer Prime lifted her hand again.

Jason flinched back.

"Hey—hey, wait—! I didn't do anything yet!"

**"Not yet."**

Jason's eyes widened.

"…You're evaluating whether I *will* do something?"

**"Correct."**

He backed away another step.

The Observer Prime didn't move.

She didn't need to.

The air around her rippled.

**"Your existence is unstable."**

**"Your path is fragmented."**

**"Your choices intersect with impossible outcomes."**

Her voice lowered.

Not threatening.

Not angry.

Just absolute.

**"The Administrator has authorized correction."**

Jason felt cold fear grip his spine.

"You mean… erase me?"

**"Not erase."**

She stepped forward—

and reality bent under her footstep.

**"Reshape."**

Jason raised Longwu defensively.

"No way. No one reshapes me."

The Observer Prime tilted her head.

**"Incorrect."**

Jason's grip tightened.

Longwu growled:

*["JASON—RUN—NOW—"]*

Jason bolted—

The Observer Prime flicked a finger.

Reality snapped like a twig.

Jason froze mid-step.

Suspended.

Weightless.

Breathless.

She approached him slowly.

Silver eyes calm.

Emotionless.

Absolute.

**"Jason Wu."**

**"I am here to deliver the Administrator's Verdict."**

Jason's heart hammered.

He braced himself.

But instead—

She said something he never expected.

**"You are not to be terminated."**

Jason blinked.

"…What?"

The Observer Prime's eyes narrowed.

**"You are to be monitored."**

Jason blinked again.

"…By who? You?"

She paused.

**"By me."**

Jason's jaw dropped.

"You're—?

YOU'RE ASSIGNED TO ME?!"

**"Correct."**

Jason stared at her in horror.

Longwu Sword whispered:

*["…Congratulations, boy."]*

*["You've just been given an Observer Prime babysitter."]*

Jason shouted:

"WHAT KIND OF NIGHTMARE QUEST IS THIS—?!"
