Reed's POV
Even though Jenifer had already posted the Zach family's official portrait online, Mom still needed to hear it directly from me.
I got it. The girl we'd all assumed was some orphan crashing at our place had just revealed herself as the Zach empire's crown jewel. That kind of bombshell would mess with anyone's head.
"Mom, what's this really about?" I knew she never asked questions without an agenda.
Mom leaned forward, her voice urgent. "Jenifer's been your wife for years without saying a damn word about who she really is. Now that she's reconnected with the Zach, this could be exactly what you need to survive the shitstorm at work."
"Why don't you swallow your pride and ask if she'll pull some family strings for you?"
Mom had caught wind of the company drama. If I lost my grip on the CEO position, the Gould Group would slip right through our fingers.
