PROLOGUE
Riya Mackenzie is what we call a juvenile teenager. By the age of sixteen she has been in prison twice and still doesn't give a damn about life. She did drugs before and took alcohol too but she was talked to and advised so she decided to quit and become a better person. She isn't exactly the girly type and hangs out with dudes most of the time and has a few girl friends. She has a younger brother and an older sister, though the sister is dead to her due to some issues. In short, they're not on talking terms. Her sister graduated and left home and goodness knows where she could be right now but Kenzie doesn't give a damn.
Name:Riya Mackenzie, Age:18, Status: Obviously single cause she thinks dating is below her, Favorite color: Pink & maroon, Likes: Drawing, basketball and doing crazy stuff, Dislikes: SCHOOL (she wouldn't have stepped in it if it wasn't compulsory).
At this point, she's left with her college entrance exams and if she passes, she goes on to whatever college but if she doesn't, she'll give up on studies and probably start up something to earn a living. She's not sure yet of what she wants to do in future but she'll figure something out as she always does.
CHAPTER 1
It was the first day of Kenzie's college entrance exams and the first paper begins at 9 and it's 8:30 now and Kenzie's still in bed.
"Get your lazy butt out of bed Riya Mackenzie." her roommate said pulling the blanket off her.
"What on earth do you want now,Katie ?" Kenzie said not opening her eyes.
"I can't believe you're actually asking me that question right now. You have a freakin' life determining exam in the next 20 minutes and you're asking me what I want! I want you to get the hell out of your bed and into the shower." Katie said with a slightly raised voice.
"I'm right here you know, so you don't have to shout." Kenzie said as she sat up. " You're telling me not to shout when you're wearing such a calm expression yet you have a very important exam ahead of you. Why aren't you bothered even just a little bit even if it's just for a while you could pretend to care a little but noooo, here you are still in bed when others are reading their heads off. I don't even know why I'm wasting my breath arguing with you when you never pay attention to my words. "
"Now that you know it's pointless I wonder why you still bother." Kenzie said as she slowly got up.
"Gosh, what am I gonna do with you?!" Katie said slightly pulling her hair. "Keep loving me Katie, just keep loving me." Kenzie said as she disappeared behind the door. " Just what is wrong with her?" Katie asked no one in particular.
Kenzie came back from taking a shower and was forced to dress up in a hurry then Katie grabbed her backpack and her hand and pulled her as they ran out of the hostel into the campus and right outside Kenzie's classroom.
"We- we- made it--" Katie said as she was panting and checked her watch. "with 3 minutes to spare." she added. "Wow ,that's great." Kenzie said in a bored tone.
"Please change that attitude. That's not how a person gonna sit an exam should look or sound." Katie said. "Whatever."
"In here I put your pencil bag, a geometrical set,a calculator and a bottle of water. Whenever you feel things get tough, just take a sip of water and whenever you feel you forgotten the answer sing a little bit, it makes your brain move faster and what else-- yeah don't panic." Katie said giving her the backpack.
"I should be the one telling you not to panic cause you look like you're having a panic attack right now. Are you sure you're not the one sitting for this exam!?" Kenzie said. " Girl you make me so freakin' worried and mad at the same time that I should hate you." "But you don't. I know you love me too much to hate me.
" You know what, just go already." Katie said pushing her in and then pulled her back.
"What now?" Kenzie said. "Don't forget to say a little prayer before you start and don't look around, just focus on your paper. I wish you all the best and you can definitely do it." Katie said hugging her then the bell rang.
"Okay, I gotta go. I'll come out alive, just wait for me." Kenzie said and entered the room.
"Dear God, please forget Kenzie is a sinner just for now and help her through this paper. Don't forsake her please and replace her brain with that of an angel's. Amen." Katie said a little prayer before she went back to the hostel.
Katie is Kenzie's best friend but Kenzie never wants to admit it yet they've been friends like forever. Katie cares for Kenzie a little bit more than she should. She worries so much about her yet Kenzie never worries about a thing. Now just look at her entering an exam with no extra minute for reading and yet she barely read last night. That's just how she is, she has never read for the exams she does but somehow always gets promoted to the next class so this time isn't any different she has just never taken anything seriously in her life though she sometimes tries to be bothered but that always ends up nowhere. But since she's blessed and highly favored she always gets through.
"Hey, I thought you blew off the exam." Jayden, her immediate neighbor whispered to her. "You know Katie wouldn't let me do that." Kenzie whispered.
" I wish I also had a friend like that." " Yeah it's cool sometimes but trust me most times it gets annoying." " Yeah but I bet it's the good type of annoying." Jayden said and the invigilator walked in and they went quiet. They were given the papers. " You have exactly three and a half hours. Start." the invigilator said. They began and Kenzie did as Katie had told her to do and she was able to do the paper.
