Jenifer's POV
I glanced at Romano and asked, "You're certain this is what you chose for me?"
Romano had no clue what the bag contained, but Lorelei had promised him that giving it to me would make me happy—and maybe I'd finally return home.
He wasn't particularly fond of his mother, yet he still felt her absence.
"Yeah." Romano gave a quick nod.
I accepted the bag from Romano without hesitation and reached inside to see what he'd brought.
A package of sanitary pads emerged, visible to anyone watching.
Eliza's complexion turned ashen the moment she spotted them. She rushed to stuff the pads back into the bag.
"What possessed you to pull that out where people could see?" Eliza snapped irritably.
She scanned the area anxiously, breathing easier only after confirming nobody around was watching.
"Mrs. Gould, did you honestly not realize what Romano was giving me?" I fired back, letting sarcasm creep into my tone as I observed Eliza's panic.
