Creating a new life was not difficult for 'Ruan Mei.' And with Herta's assistance, a lifeform capable of freely transforming between light and solid form was quickly born in their hands.
Looking at the sample that transformed from a cluster of free-floating light into a solid entity.
Herta looked with interest at this lifeform that had not been endowed with individual will.
"That is certainly an interesting concept, although not that difficult to realize. Now, how will you ensure that the consciousness is not exposed and made vulnerable when in the photon state?"
Allowing a lifeform to switch freely between intangible and tangible forms, with low consumption, low cooldown, and low burden. Herta had never considered this method of arbitrary transformation.
Or rather, she hadn't considered making it so complex.
As per her question, although it was novel, it didn't seem to have a high cost-effectiveness.
Transforming into photons allowed for easy light speed travel.
However, both the Phase Flame and the Warp Lanes could easily achieve faster-than-light movement.
Furthermore, when the body dispersed into a photon state, how could the carried consciousness be ensured safety? And how could they ensure that extraneous Memoria would not be mixed in?
"I know this state might seem redundant, but it is not intended to be the conventional form. It is prepared for the purpose of Harmony. And, I hope they can cross lanes blocked by Stellarons."
As 'Ruan Mei' now, she naturally understood Herta's thoughts.
But to achieve that state where multiple individuals could easily aggregate their power, even physically merging into a single entity for a short time to achieve a leap in power level,
this form-switching and special state were clearly indispensable parts of the plan.
Moreover, the light form itself wasn't meant for combat.
"When necessary, twisting the power of everyone into a single strand, even physically combining them, and separating them easily afterward."
"What, are you getting addicted to being a leader?"
Herta chuckled, but 'Ruan Mei' didn't mind:
"I definitely felt something special. The power of the individual is limited. I need some tangible benefits to make them spontaneously choose to unite in the future."
"Do you know, I now genuinely think you want to overturn the structure of the entire universe."
Herta stared intently at 'Ruan Mei'.
Every world always had similar fantasies of heroes, but for someone like 'Ruan Mei' to actually want to realize it, even bringing it into reality,
was truly hard to put a value on.
'Ruan Mei' merely smiled:
"Why not? There are so many lunatics in this universe; what's one more kind of righteous lunatic?"
"Ha~ That's why I like you. Although your constant impersonation is annoying, your personality perfectly suits me."
Madam Herta laughed, leaning against the experiment bench.
Her eyes held an undisguised longing for 'Ruan Mei'.
She was increasingly determined to keep this person by her side.
'Ruan Mei' looked up at Herta, then smiled:
"Madam Herta's emotions are truly too heavy. It's a good thing it's me; anyone else would truly be scared away. Madam Herta should restrain herself a little."
"I don't care what others think, and I don't believe anyone dislikes my face."
Herta, as narcissistic as ever,
made 'Ruan Mei' reluctant to continue the conversation.
"...Let's stick to the experiment."
After a period of silence, she continued optimizing the Light Lifeform.
"Using the concept of Harmony to carry consciousness on dispersed light, or designing a core concept to serve as the consciousness carrier."
"Heh, I forgive your attempt to change the subject."
Herta scoffed.
She didn't press the issue further.
Problem after problem was solved in their discussion.
And the unconscious Light Lifeform before them increasingly resembled the Giant of Light in 'Ruan Mei's memory.
Just as 'Ruan Mei' had previously estimated, if it were simply a matter of creating a species of Giants of Light, it wasn't a difficult task for her.
However, before being endowed with sufficient Path power, the Light Giant, lacking subjective power, was merely a super-soldier with peculiar characteristics.
If they couldn't figure out how to make the unique light propagate and acquire the characteristics of a Path,
it would just be a powerful new species.
Nothing particularly special.
That blend of romanticism and possibility was the key to whether the Giants of Light could truly become cosmic vigilantes.
Herta seemed to already have a plan.
She quickly took over the console and started trying to edit the lifeform, embedding the concept of Equilibrium as the foundation, supplemented by the meaning of Preservation and Hunt, into the lifeform's underlying logic.
This was intended to mediate the increasing number of Path powers.
However, the three too-powerful forces added caused the previously encoded concepts of Harmony, Erudition, Abundance, and Permanence to waver.
It did not stabilize as conceived; it almost completely collapsed.
Herta had to stop the experiment temporarily.
As different Paths were increasingly added, maintaining stability became increasingly difficult.
"So, why not add Mystery?"
"Tsk, why do you keep fixating on Mystery? Compared to Mystery, I think Elation would be more suitable."
Herta's competitive nature flared up.
She refused to believe that she couldn't solve this small compatibility problem without the intervention of Mystery's power.
'Ruan Mei' gave a helpless smile.
Seeing Herta so serious, she figured the problem would likely be solved.
Honestly, a moment ago, she thought Herta had succeeded.
The near-collapse was also somewhat beyond 'Ruan Mei's expectation.
Perhaps some key factor is missing?
'Ruan Mei' didn't press the issue and began thinking about how to 'contaminate' the light of this world, similar to memetic contamination.
After much thought, excluding the small probability of actually creating a new Path,
to reach the level where miracles could be summoned,
it seemed the only way was to try and create a 'virus' that could propagate along the light.
But just then, Herta suddenly spoke:
"Stop obsessing. Although you call it a Light Lifeform, don't forget, what truly permeates the universe and is ubiquitous is Imaginary Energy. That's much more efficient than your plan to modify light."
"...Aren't you being even more audacious than me?"
'Ruan Mei' looked at Herta in surprise.
She had considered that possibility, but the difficulty of that approach increased by more than one level.
"If you're going to do it anyway, why not take it to the extreme? You, you've clearly only imitated the genius's brain, not the genius's audacity."
Herta stared directly at 'Ruan Mei':
"You are Ruan Mei now. As long as the plan is feasible, you shouldn't question my audacity; you should think about how to implement it. Since you proposed the topic, put all your effort into it!"
