Chapter 1 - The Star Child Is Born

"Elora, you must take him away...protect him," Spoke a beautiful woman with long black hair that seemed to shimmer as if it held stars, crossed star eyes, and a haze of mystery around her.

"I will, Mistress Nyx. But what about Helios...did he approve?" Elora, a maid who had been serving Nyx for a millennium.

"Yes, we both decided it would be best if he stayed away. Our world is going to enter a war soon, and a child like ours will only become a target for other parties." Nyx replied as she held her child in her arms.

"But where will I take him?" Elora asked

"As far away as you can get. Don't tell me, I don't trust myself not to come after him," Nyx replied

"But are you sure about sealing his blood...He will be a regular person now?" Elora asked

"We gave to. If anyone senses his divine blood, the blood of two gods, he won't ever be able to be happy; he will live a life of battle and suffering," Nyx replied

"I..."

Before Elora could reply, the sounds of explosions from outside rattled the castle, causing Nyx to hold her child tighter.

"Okay, you must go...please protect him, okay, keep him safe," Nyx said, her eyes teary as she handed over her child to Elora.

"Don't worry, I will protect him with my life," Elora said, taking the small child into her arms.

"Nyx, we must go, the council is here," Helios, the god of the sun, in all his shining glory, said as he walked into the room.

"I know...I know," Nyx said as she gently caressed her child's cheek for the last time.

Grabbing Nyx's hand, Helios began pulling her away as he gave Elora the order to leave.

"Wait, what is his name?" Elora asked

"Vesper...his name is Vesper," Nyx said with teary eyes as Helios pulled her away.

"Go, Elora, you must go now," Helios said as there was another explosion in the distance.

...17 Years later

[Kouh Town]

"Hurry up, Vesper, you are going to be late!" Elora yelled up the stairs

"I'm coming...Just looking for my phone," the young teen Vesper replied

Running down the stairs, Vesper, a boy standing at 6'2(187cm) with shoulder-length dark purple hair, with a stand of white in the front, golden yellow eyes, and a toned body, gave his 'mother', Elora, a kiss on the cheek as he ran to put his shoes on.

"Seriously, young man, you need to wake up earlier," Elora sighed, standing behind Vesper.

"I know, I know, but a new game came out, and I had to try it. I didn't mean to stay up so late," Vesper replied as he put his shoes on.

"Anyway, I have the night shift tonight at the hospital so that you will be home alone. Don't wait up for me," Elora replied

"Got it...I'm going out with some friends, so it's fine," Vesper said, standing up.

"Gosh, you just keep growing, don't you?" Elora said, looking at how Vesper towered over her.

"I guess," Vesper shrugged as he grabbed his lunch, hugged Elora, and ran out of the house.

Running down the street, Vesper tossed a piece of beef jerky to Dusk, his neighbor's dog that was sitting on guard on the porch.

After twenty minutes of running, Vesper arrived at his school. Kouh Academy. Even though it had been an all-female school just two years ago, his mother had him transferred rather quickly.

Walking past the school gate, he was greeted by Sona Sitri, the student council president, and her vice president, Tsubaki Shinra.

"You're late, Vesper," Sona said with crossed arms.

"Come on, only by one minute, don't be like that, Sona," Vesper begged.

"No, if I give you a free pass, then I have to give everyone a free pass," Sona sighed.

"Come on, the new Doom Slayer just came out, how could you expect me not to play it?" Vesper replied

"So you were late cause of a game. Now you're definitely not getting a pass. Let's go."

 Sona said with narrowed eyes

"Did I say game? I mean, I was studying all night and woke up late," Vesper said quickly, trying to help himself.

"Oh no, it's too late now," Son said, grabbing Vesper by the ear and leading him into the school.

"Will Vesper ever learn Sona is a stickler for the rules?" A student sighed, watching the scene.

After getting lectured about the importance of being on time for an hour, Vesper finally left the student council office looking as if he had just stayed up for three days.

Dragging his body to his next class, Vesper sat in the back of the class and laid his head on his desk.

"Student council scolded you again, Vesper," Kiba, a young man with short blonde hair and grey eyes, asked.

"Yeah...Sona is a good person, but damn, she can make you feel terrible for the smallest things," Vesper sighed.

"That does sound like her. Any, here are the notes you missed from last class," Kiba said, handing Vesper a few sheets of paper.

"Are you trying to get me to join the kendo club?" Vesper asked

"No...Alright, yes, but you have to join. You have an innate talent for it, just like archery, and Sakura and I are in a bet to see who can recruit you first," Kiba explained.

"I already told both of you I have no interest in joining either club, so please stop," Vesper sighed as he looked over the notes.

"But what if I promised to give you something in return, then would you join?" A voice spoke from behind Vesper as two hands wrapped around him

"I told you to stop doing that, Sakura," Vesper sighed as he turned around.

"Stop what? I'm just showing my boyfriend some affection," Sakura, the archery club captain, a girl with long pink hair and matching bright pink eyes, replied innocently.

"I told you I won't join the club...and stop calling me your boyfriend, people think we're dating," Vesper sighed.

"How can you be so cold towards me?" Sakura said, pretending to cry.

"Ara, what's this my Vesper is such a heartbreaker," Replied a sturyl voice from the entrance

"Don't you start now, Akeno," Vesper sighed.

"Stop what I was just calling it as I see it," Akeno, a girl with waist-length black hair and deep purple eyes with a perfect hourglass figure that was outlined by her uniform, said, holding back a small laugh.

"Rias, please help me here," Vesper begged.

"Even I can't save you from their teasing," Rias, a girl with long crimson hair, teal, green eyes, and a matching hourglass figure, replied with a small laugh.
