Chapter 15 - Faster than the Speed of Love

(AN: I thought about it for a bit…and considered actually buffing the outside world beasts and creatures to be stronger, in the context of in the Era of Eden, everything was just better, until Evil came into fold and wounded Creation… so officially, unnaturally strong beasts and monsters…though on top of that there was the curse Multiversal Emnity, where I have already rolled several encounters that would prove ranging from Annoying to legitimately horrifying …so this will at least stop him from being too overpowered and keep things interesting and somewhat tense)

Adam felt…utterly free, unlike anything he had experienced before, not even the first sight of Eden at this very moment could compare.

As if after a lifetime being constrained under three weighted blankets that he never noticed suddenly were lifted from his shoulders, he never felt so light before.

He happily soared into the air, flying so high up in the air as to pop into and out of the clouds.

"Hey wait up!" Samuel called out with a laugh as he tried to follow the gleeful Lord of Eden, three pairs of wings to Adam's none.

For the next few minutes, he hid in the clouds, moving fast in between them, keeping out of sight from Samuel who tried to search for him only for him to catch some parts of him.

It also helped that Adam was a lot more quiet than a Angel who had three entire pairs of wings flapping around generating thrust for him to hear.

The celestial having enough after several minutes gone by, summoned a gust of wind from all directions, pushing all the clouds in the immediate vicinity away, revealing Adam.

"AHA!Found you!" And gave chase.

Laughing deeply, the First Man took a dive, using his ever deepening relationship with the air and sky, it being ever stronger than before.

He flew faster, swifter, much like a peregrine falcon before, just a little before hitting the roof of the trees, he dived into it, and landed in his two feet, and thanks to Cat's Feet, absolutely no damage as the ground below me blew open..

Before he started running.

Really running. Full. On. Sprint.

It was already apparently, if he only had his body, with none of the powers or knowledge his soul just seems to keep on sprouting, he would still be noticeably faster than any world champion athlete.

He however, was anything but normal however.

With a body of Hanma, Efficient Cells, and Efficient Physique, his athletism, endurance, and energy conservation were through the roof.

With Racer his speed only got marginally better to a vast extent, his Airbending pushing him even further, and Swiftness on top of that only multiplied it.

Not to mention the runes he had long ago carved from Caryll Runecraft to increase his stamina and stamina recovery, those too held a factor in this.

He dug his feet into the earth, sturdy and steady steps to make sure he did not slip, pushing strong steps after steps.

He was not worried, his mentioned durability on top of Thick Skin would do its work, he felt the push back on the G-Force, so he gently guided the air to the side, like a fragile bubble with tender care.

He had no need to worry about watching where he was going, becuase on top of his agility, his reaction time and reflexes were also upped, alongside every parkour skill on hand that ranged from Intermediate Savoir Faire, Racer, Swiftness, and even Cat's Feet.

The results…were surprising.

He soared through the forest, running like he was on the run from the police.

He dashed past the forest, the grasslands, and the fields, as his speed grew more and more.

Expertly maneuvering from the left, to the right from the trees and the rocks, every uneven footing on the ground was instantaneously corrected on the spot, until eventually…Adam reached his full speed.

BOOOOM!

A sonic boom, that was what he, and no doubt anyone from the Garden, had heard heard when he witness a cone form up before him,…before broke through it.

A streak of light could be seen running from one end of the Garden to the other, Lilith and the creatures of the forest paused, startled as they glanced towards the source of the sudden booming sound, Samuel full on stopped flying and dropped his jaw and widened his eyes as he hasn't seen anyone run that fast before.

Fly? Sure, Gabriel was a lot faster…like ridiculously so, but he had never seen anyone on two legs on the ground go that fast before.

Adam maniacally laughed as he ran, the sheer thrill at the speeds he was going at held him tight, ever so gladly Breathless made it so he never truly needed to breath.

Birds he passed by flew off in terror, the rabbits skidaddled with theirs lives at the approaching dust storm, all making way for the Lord of Eden.

Before his eyes widened as he realized not too far away—about half a mile—he was about to run into the lake he and his two friends loved to fish at, and he had too much momentum to stop here and NOT cause damage to the terrain.

So he went with the alternative, he kept up his speed, accelerated even more by a mile or two per hour, and once he reached the edge?

He jumped.

He jumped high into the air, the figure of a oversized jock of a King could be seen soaring through the air, posing with his arms stretched out to the world displaying dominance with a wide, joyful smile.

He crossed the lake in one bound swoop, high several dozens yards in the air, all without truly flying as he had learned to, he reached the other side, and a little over it.

Before he landed, performing a Superhero landing as he crashed into the earth, a impact crater forming beneath him from the sheer kinetic force as the dust settled.

With no pain on top of that! Thank you Cat's Feet!

Adam, his eyes closed, head bowed as he remained kneeling silent for a bit, holding the pose as he soaked in the sheer awesomeness he just performed.

If anyone would have been watching, they would have froze over from the sheer presence of Charisma he exerted.

He broke out into chuckles, a bubbly cheerful one as he erupted into laughter, standing up, arms spread wide as he took the sunlight and air in as he joyfully laughed.

He walked-no he skipped and hopped/kicked in the air in overwhelming giddiness as he simply laughed, laughed till it hurt as his white hair practically glowed.

Before after moving for a bit, he laid on the grass, a little bit away from the hole he had inadvertently dug with his "hop".

Today…was just wonderful.

He felt more free, more relaxed, more…happy, than ever.

His progressed through Airbending to the point he achieved Flight, he lifted a pressure over his soul he wasn't even aware he had on him before today, he ran so fast!

He broke the sound barrier…Mach 1…another giggle got through, though more painful this time, very much a Superhuman.

Sucks that it doesn't really transfer into being combat speed…

It was Full-Burst Sprint.

It was straight-line run, he had only been accelerating, slowly built up more and more speed, and practically had no bothersome obstacles…a pipedream for any combat scenario.

He would be lucky if he actually made use of a 1/10 of that speed in actual combat.

It did not however dampen his child-like joy at this accomplishment.

[Adept Massage]

|Rare Skill|

You are as skilled as a seasoned masseuse, being able to give a variety of massages that help get rid of exhaustion, recover stamina, revitalize the body and mind and even invoke sexual pleasure. Few would leave the massage bed unsatisfied.

Oh cool. It doesn't do jack shit on making him stronger, but it would be kinda fun to bring relief to someone, his mind for a moment wondered to the more naughty ideas, but after a moment or two it was as if Adam's mind wondered back to help heal his companions.

Right, he almost forgot, it almost always through him off how his vices and desires seemed very dimmed, reduced to more innocent thoughts.

Oh well…not like it was too big of a issue.

Adam laid on the ground, happy to enjoy the sunshine as the knowledge of how to properly massage the body emerged from his mind.

Though oddly, it wasn't as if he had gained knowledge of the art…but more like he suddenly "remembered" how to do it.

Kinda Bizarre.

Suddenly, the light and warmth of the sun he could feel with closed eyelids was blocked by a shade, he already had a feeling who it was.

"I gotta admit Adam, like wowie!-" Samuel called out as he slowly flew down to the grass near me, "-I did not expect to be eating your dust back there, for a moment there I would have thought you would have given Sister Gabriel a run for her Title, as the Messenger of God~," Sam complimented, which was returned with a deep chuckle.

Adam didn't bother opening his eyes, his hands behind his head, fully content to lay in his back and relax, soon after, his shorter, angelic friend joined him.

It was almost comical the size difference between the two, if Adam was a skin suit and was hollow, you wouldn't be able to tell if Samuel was in him if he crawled in.

Actually he took it back, that sounded a little gay, Adam's biceps were the size of his torso, slightly larger even, there, that sounded better.

We were content to lay there, simply enjoying moment.

Adam's mind wondered towards thoughts on what he should do next, what should he invent next, what should he improve next, and hundreds of more little questions that filled his mind.

It was always brought small, little joys whenever he made something, the burst of dopamine from a Gacha ticket notwithstanding.

He thought about the fact that he still was not entirely sure on what exactly it meant to be the supposed Father of Humanity.

The King of Eden was formality at best basically, there was nothing to govern, at least nothing that actually warranted it.

The Lord of Names was at least something…it was an actual duty—or at least it was suppose to be—that ended up being a game of recognition.

The only time…he ever originally named something…ended up being Roo.

And man didn't that feel like crap, names floated all around the creatures, on their species, those intelligent, typically have a name.

After many visits of angels, after giving out all the names of the animals that he knew of, it kind of…grew.

Sort of.

He could see Titles, one that they embodied or was the most fitting to their person.

The Morningstar being Samuel's.

Others like High Seraphim, Messenger of God, Soldier of God, Beauty of God-

It was kind of strange to be perfectly honest, most of them had something to do with God, except for Sera and Samuel, though he mostly only had angels to take notes on.

Other than him and Lilith he supposed.

The First Man, and The First Woman.

If he were to look up at his name he would see that attached to his and Lilith respectfully.

He wasn't sure if he liked the upgrade or not…afterall he only ever attained it after originally naming the shadow and witnessed her title…The Root of Evil.

Because man, did that drain any pleasing feeling away from him for an upgrade after taking a long, hard look back on what exactly happened that day.

Still, that lead him back to his original thought…Father of Humanity…currently single, quite a predicament.

Becuase he was sure the Angels wanted the Father and Mother of Humanity to both be humans, or at least that was what he was assuming…

He could be wrong, maybe they would be cool if the children are hybrid or something, though probably a stretch…Michael being blunt as he is told what they were expecting, then again from the difficulty Sera had in answering any questions on the day Lilith arrived, it didn't seem like they spent too much time actually debating on that.

On the other hand…they created him, they created Lilith…he highly doubted they were incapable of going for a third time.

And with that, the return of the awkward feeling that another random, newly created wife may just appear, presented for him.

…Or perhaps a hubby for Lilith? A new spouse for both of us? Who knows.

Adam suddenly thought about the three of their interactions,…more specifically when Lilith and Samuel would get a little too absorbed into each other they somehow forgot about him.

(Then again he had similar Bromance moments with Samael, more commonly than not when they were fishing, but those were obviously more platonic—he hoped—)

…Honestly they go nice together, very fittingly, and it was obvious—at least to him—that Samuel liked the both of them.

But decided to ask him to be sure, a single eye lid opened up to look down at him, who lazily laid with me, "Hey, Bro?" Samuel grunted lightly, questioningly, in response, "Do you like Lilith?".

He immediately flushed gold—which were especially visible on his pale face— as his eyes fly open as his mouth ran off and stuttered, "Uh— I—I mean— psh! N-no, it's not like that, I just— ah— y'know, I wasn't— I didn't—! I mean— ngh— why would you even ask that? I— psh!— I just— s-stop looking at me like that, I'm— I'm thinking, okay? It's just— ugh— that's embarrassing, don't say it out loud like that—!"

The man completely lost it, he sat up straight, his hands and fingers didn't know where they should be as played with their tips, twirling around them in embarrassment while Adam's teasing smirk grew.

"I don't mind," afterall, we weren't married, or at least verbally so, but then again it was never on paper to begin with- was it still legally?- no he will not be getting into it.

His angelic buddy froze as he closed and opened his mouth, "You…you don't?" There was very much confusion, so much so he couldn't tell if there was anything else in there like relief or otherwise.

But then there was something in his eyes, a chance!, to go for the gold metal and home run!—or at least something along those lines Adam thinks—as Samuel slowly opened his mouth, "Hey Adam…what would you…say…that the…three of us-" 'Yeaaaa I'm gonna have to cut you right there buddy'

"Let me stop you right there, save us all precious time," Adam gentle pressed a finger to Sam's lips as he nonchalantly cut him off, "Unfortunately for you my feathery friend…I'm mostly 99.9% sure I am straight," he cut to the chase.

Unexpectedly, Samuel looked confused, "…What does this have to do with a line?"

…Ah right, sexuality is underdeveloped- fuck!

Adam gave him a apologetic smile, patting his head, "In other words, while I like you, and are not a bad guy…I'm pretty sure I'm only interested in girls"

"Oh!…Phoo…," Honestly, he took it like a champ, he looked more surprised as understandment arrived, before a disappointed pout as he looked to the side.

Before he shook his head and immediately went back to our earlier talk, "Wait…then what was that about Lilith earlier? Asking me if I liked your wife or not?" Trying to wrap his mind around it.

His wife- oh wait…yeah that checks out…we agreed that that was no longer the case…and literally never brought it up with everyone, as far as anyone was concerned we were still together.

Our bad, he guessed as he inwardly shrugged, not all too caring of that matter.

"Lilith and myself are no longer together," he decided he may as well inform him now than never.

Samuel did a double take, looking very much alarmed as if he just told him someone had died, "Wait wha- WHAT HAPPENED?! Did the two of you have a fight at some point?!" probably wondering to himself when had he missed something this important.

Adam shook his head, adjusting himself more comfortably as he laid down, as he looked up at Samuel who was still up, "There was no fight, I took the initiative, after noticing for months that our marriage wasn't going anywhere…and Lilith didn't want to be the first person to make the move to address it, so I nudged it along, and came to an agreement with her, that it would be best to seperate from one another," he calmly explained to him.

Samuel opened and closed his mouth several times, trying to understand how this went unnoticed by him for so long, "…but…are you two sure about this?" He weakly asked, he felt like something like this should have come from some volatile event..

Adam rolled his head back, to look at the blue skies above, "Of course…there was no bad blood between us for it, we were simply not all that interested in one another to the degree that we wanted to make it romantically work,"

Adam chuckled, thinking about the times he pulled the metaphorical rug under the First Woman's feet, "To be perfectly honest…she is like a younger sister to me~ someone to guide and teach,"

"…So you asking me before about wether I liked Lilith or Not…"

Adam snorted, "I would like to believe that I am not so blind, or better yet I am that clever, to notice that you liked the two of us,"

"…"

The King of Eden turned his towards his friend, a more gentle, curved smile on his expression, "So how about it?…I seen you two interact, you like her?…"

He looked to the side, a matching smile along with his brazen golden blush, "…I…I do,"

Adam patted his head as he nodded sagely, "Then you have my blessing,"

Samuel blinked, a bit annoyed at the rufflement of his hair, "Your blessing?"

He nodded once more, widening grin, "my blessing! You go ask her out and see if she is interested!"

"A-ask her out?" He said a little nervously.

Adam gave a thumbs up, "Ask her out! Court her! Date her! Whatever, ask her out, the sooner the better. Do it tomorrow,"

"Do it tomorrow?…"

"Do it tomorrow"

"That I…want to go out?"

"Yep"

"That…that I wanna hold her hand?,"

"Go for it you degenerate,"

"That I want her to stand over me!-"

"Ok NO, we are going into a very weird direction, let's stop-"

"THAT I WANT TO HE CRUSHED UNDER HER *Beep* *Beep* with *BeBeep*-"

"Adam…I-" Sera started as she stood behind him, as he tinkered with a small contraption that was a future project, she sounded disheartened as Jophiel, looking very much upset, stood next to her.

"…Yeeees?" Adam asked her after a moment or two after they stopped speaking, he peaked over behind him as the three of them were present on a small hill.

"…It seems Brother Samael and Lilith have joined hands…in more ways than one," Jophiel said with a blank expression, a small frown on top of that.

"Oh…I know," he said nonchalantly with a smile as he went to work back on his latest project to show off to his family.

He could practically feel the two of them blink at him owlishly, before Sera questioned, "You…know?"

He nodded, with a slight smile, "yep," he peaked over to the side, seeing down the hill into the sea of flowers, Samael and Lilith playing in there, he could hear their giggling from the winds,"I am glad Lilith could find some love after we both decided to devorce one another,"

""WHAT?!""

Jophiel immediately dived to her knees next to Adam—which while not as comically small as Samael, she was still tiny—she looked at him with distraught in her eyes, "But…WHY??" Almost heartbroken it seemed as he looked at her with a raised eyebrow.

"Simply put…we were not compatible," already had this conversation twice not, and Adam didn't exactly want to spill the deats on information he was not 100% sure Lilith wishes to, he kept it short.

"…Not…compatible?" Sera slowly repeated, Adam could just image the uncomprehencing eyes, afterall Jophiel was looking at him and the words that spilled from his lips in disbelief.

Seeing they apparently still didn't get it, he sighed, "Ok…look at it this way, while not entirely accurate…I like to take the lead, Lilith likes to take the lead, we are both very stubborn, we are both very much headstrong in wanting our ways, even if we do find compromises, but look!" He pointed down below where the new couple were.

The angels, no doubt could see them clearly, followed his instruction, and observed the two.

"See how Samael hangs on every word she speaks? See how it makes him feel happy while Lilith is leading the Date? They compliment each other, she wears the metaphorical pants of the relationship, and he is all for wearing it, the way he dumbly smiles and stutters at her presence, and the way her eyes soften in his direction? They have a clear connection…they are compatible,"

And indeed, it was that way, the angel's eyes watched as The First Woman and The Morningstar walked around the field, collecting flowers, Samael more than willing to carry the shit ton of them, and following her every word.

That alone shocked the two as they had struggles in the past for Samael to actually pay attention to what they were saying.

Jophiel's eyes sparked, "…Oh my Heavenly Father…we were doing this all wrong!" As if she was blinded by ignorance and has finally seen the truth.

Before a idea sparked in her mind.

She was suddenly at Sera's side, "SISTER! SISTER! WE NEED TO HEAD BACK!! WE NEED TO PLAN THIS! WE MUST CORRECT THE ERROR OF OUR WAYS OF LOVE!"

"What?" 'What?' Both Angel and Human thought the same as they both stared at the Beauty of God.

Before long, a golden portal was opened, and Sera was dragged in before she could give a rebuttal.

…getting back his silence, Adam went back to working in peace, as he shrugged.

…WAIT DOESN'T THAT WORDING IMPLY THEY ARE SETTING UP A WIFE FOR ME AGAIN?!

…A few weeks later he questioned why he could see a couple of Cherubs and other angels hiding in bushes and trees as they spied on Samael and Lilith.

They were also…taking a lot, an impressive amount, of notes? Huh.

He only wished to know why his lower ribs pricked a little, like someone poked him particularly hard in a spot.

Omake: In the Name of Love

"So…you are saying my twin brother did not go on on ahead and stole The First Woman from The First Man," Michael confirmed as he slowly processed the tale from the Archangel.

Jophiel nodded happily as she hummed to herself in bubbly joy, "Indeed, in fact, I don't believe he has ever been so well behaved in his life to anyone else, it…was kinda refreshing to see how all there he was," as she was writing/drawing down on her sheets.

"I…," Michael started, opened his mouth, paused, closed his mouth to think over it with his hands folded, before responded "Well…if he is happy…and she is happy…than all is well,"

His typical apathetic, stoically smiling, blank mask he typically wore slipped away briefly to reveal a pleased, and almost relieved, small smile.

"Good news aside…What of the Eden Project?" Uriel said as the angel with them started writing down on a very long scroll, inscribing the meeting as it went on.

It was an incredibly white marble room, enourmous in fact, as in the palace of Heaven, a meeting went on as the eldest of the angels sat together to discuss the matter on hand.

Sera bit her lips nervously as she thought about it, "The Heavenly Father spoke for us to create a Father and Mother of Humanity…however it seems we may have…underestimated how important compatibility are in a…courtship, is that what the Lord of Eden called it?" She questioned a bit, getting a excited nod from Jophiel.

Gabriel on the other hand, groaned with her head on the table, arms around her head, as she mocked cried, "why is creating so haaaaaard, first the hair and now the feelings," she mumbled out the words as some of the angels on the table sighed, some in exasperation, other actually in agreement with the Messenger of God.

Sera folded her hands, closed her eyes for a second as she considered her options, before she decided, "Very well, I have decided, we will try once more to see if a partner for Adam could be created to be the new pair of Father and Mother of Humanity,"

"And if it fails once more?" Michael asked curiously as he looked up at his sister.

She scrunched up a little as her wings drooped, "If that were to occur I will inform Father immediately and ask what it is he wishes us to do,".

A few angels shared her expression, one inwardly.

No one wants to disappoint their Father in a task he has personally given them to accomplish, even if there was no consequences to speak of.

One would have to have jumbled Creation so utterly horribly for even the thought of punishment to come forth, and that's if it isn't reversible in the first place.

Sera looked to Jophiel, "How goes the research gathering,"

"The Cherubs, Virtues, and Dominions, should be just about done gathering the behavioral and personality examinations on how The Couple, behave around each other," Jophiel happily informed as she clapped a few times.

"Excellent," Sera nodded, as she looked across the table, "Now as for the Core Sanctum be for the Second Woman?"

Everyone paused as they thought about it.

It had to be something…special, or at least they believed it had to be…the reason it took so long for Lilith to be finished up even though She and Adam were made roughly at the same time, was because they had no clue what would be her core.

Father brought back a fragment of a soul that existed from the influences of the Outside, surrounded by The Others.

Lilith's ended up being one of Samael's stars that was in the midst of collapsing into a black hole.

But before anyone could voice out suggestions, Jophiel chuckled in confidence so dense, her's might form into a black hole.

"I have the perfect core in mind. In fact, it's the best one that would work!"

"Oh?" Michael, Sera, and most other angels raised their eyebrows as they stared at her…before with a smirk she brought out…

A Rib…

A very, colorful, rainbow-esque rib…utterly filled with possibilities, chaos, and miracles-

"Jophiel…where did you get this?" Sera suddenly had a bad feeling about this, as her hair fluffed up in anxiety.

Jophiel crossed her legs as she nodded assurance, "It's one of Adam's lower rib,"

….

….

….

"…I got it quietly when he was asleep, with this! THEY WILL BE CONNECTED LIKE NO OTHER!"

Every person in the room froze as she said this much to her obliviousness, Uriel dropped his scroll, Gabriel fell out of her seat in sheer shock, and Michael…

Completely dropped his mask, as his eyes comically widened, his jaw dropped so far some may have suspected he may have dislocated it, and looked at his fellow Archangel in sheer disbelief.

Sera blue screened, looking disbelief and shocked, her jaw dropped, wide eyes, before she grabbed her face, looked up to the ceiling, and unleashed a screech not unlike a hawk.
