Our attention was on Anabella and her obvious breakdown, so neither I nor Damian decided to keep an eye on the half-burned man. But in our defence, we had not expected a half-burned man to try and run from us.
Especially not after being thrown into a burning car, not after screaming like his soul had been ripped out.
But despite the pain he was in, the half-burned man decided to gather himself and make a run for it.
I noticed it immediately and tried to go after him. But Damian's hand on my shoulder stopped me.
"There is no point in going after that injured man. With injuries like his, he won't be able to get very far. It will be even harder to avoid our eyes if he wants to seek medical help. We will catch him later."
Damian assured me and I watched as the cloaked man ran away.
