Chapter 11 - Troublesome Anko

Back at the farm, Shintoki had completed nearly three-quarters of the work when movement in a fresh hole caught his eye. He recoiled—in panic there was something underground.

"Hissssss…"

"A snake?! What the—?!"

He fell on his back in shock. Anyone would jump if a snake sudenly burst out of a hole they'd just dug.

Once he calmed down, his brain went into overdrive. What now? Someone is clearly pulling à prank on him. He seriously doubt orochimaru would return after their test to scare him that is not his style expecialy when they arent that close.

"A snake… It must be Anko! Damn you—doing this to me at a time like this!" His eye was clouded in anger.

It was obvious. Only Anko or Orochimaru used snakes. And Orochimaru wasn't petty enough for something like this.

Hahahaha, you should have seen your face just now. Say anko now revealing his position with à large smile on her face.

Shintoki and Anko immediately got into a loud argument, bickering nonstop.

Meanwhile, the snake noticed a rat and began chasing it around the field—

devastating half of the farm all over again.

Damn it ! Shintoki was genuinely pissed.

Anko seeing his rage brust in a laught very happy on the prank she pulled on him.

In the end, Anko was punished as well and forced to help Shintoki restore the plantation.

Together, they replanted the land, fixed the damage, and worked late into the night—though not without continuing their bickering.

But slowly, the farm returned to life. Seeing the result it was even better than before. Thankfuly they were just doing the plantation when shintoki destroyed it or they might have to wait another time or lost this years work.

The Farmer were finaly satisfied.

As for Shintoki while exhausted he remained cheerfull. He had gained another strange but valuable experience—one more trial added to his growing strength..

"I'm completely exhausted…" Anko muttered, dragging her feet. Her face twisted in frustration.

"What even got into my head for me to involve myself in this? Just messing with Shintoki, only to end up with the same punishment! Totally unjust! Why did I have to fall so badly—so shamefully?"

Shintoki let out a long sigh. "Finally… I can rest. This was starting to drag on forever. If we didn't finish this, I probably would've gone crazy."

"It's all your fault, Shintoki!" Anko snapped, pointing at him accusingly. "If you hadn't been in this mess, I wouldn't be here either!"

Shintoki's face twitched violently.

"My fault? I was almost done repairing everything before you decided to pull your stupid prank and ruin the farm all over again! And now you even have the audacity to blame me?! Shameless or not, there has to be a limit!"

"Hmph! Now that I'm free, I'm going to go play a bit. But first, I'll go tell the farm owner we're done."

Shintoki walked off to report to the farmer responsable of checking the work before departing.

After inspecting the field, they were deeply satisfied and patted him on the shoulder.

He realy worked very hard.

"Good work, kids. You've exceeded my expectations. Despite all the trouble you caused, you still did a great job in the end. Hahahaha!" he said jokingly. "Fine, I'll pay you—but because of the earlier damage, some of our rare plants were lost. So I'll only pay half. You should be grateful. Normally, I wouldn't pay you anything after the mess you made!"

Shintoki's face twitched again—turning red with barely contained anger.

But in the end, he sighed and bolted away, leaving the owner grinning behind him.

Anko ran after him.

"What do you want now, Anko? Don't you have anything better to do?"

"Well, I do want to visit some friends. Want to tag along?"

"…Yeah, sure," Anko answered without hesitation.

Elsewhere, Izumo and Kotetsu were walking through the streets of Konoha.

"Izumo, where should we go now?"

"I thought you had a place in mind," Izumo groaned. "You literally dragged me out here. I was enjoying a perfectly good sleep! After the Chūnin Exams and all the intense training? I deserve rest!"

Kotetsu shrugged. "Maybe we could visit sensei. But let's just keep walking for now. We'll find something eventually. I wonder what Shintoki is doing… wasn't he stuck on a farm? That fool really knows how to get himself into trouble! Hahahaha!"

Izumo sighed. "I kind of pity him. His intentions were noble, but still—what was he thinking using Water Release on a farm? And on that scale?"

Obito had told them everything, and saying they were shocked was an understatement.

Flooding the farm was almost predictable, but Shintoki was lucky the water didn't wash away the entire property and the surrounding area.

Water jutsu on that scale wasn't something a normal farm could survive.

After leaving together, Shintoki took Anko to a food shop.

They made their order, and while they ate, Shintoki kept ordering more. Soon, the table was packed with dishes.

For some reason, Anko started feeling uneasy.

After finishing, Shintoki stretched as his energy returned.

"I'll be right back," he said, then slipped away.

But he didn't leave the shop. Instead, he hid nearby.

Minutes passed. Then nearly an hour.

Anko's eye twitched.

"Damn it… what is Shintoki plotting now? He hasn't paid the bill yet… Don't tell me—DAMN YOU, SHINTOKI! I WILL KILL YOU!"

Her temper exploded.

How dare Shintoki trick her like this?!

"The next time I see him, I'm kicking him where it hurt!"

Hidden nearby, Shintoki froze as a cold shiver ran down his spine.

A bad feeling washed over him.

Meanwhile, the shop owner approached Anko.

"Young lady, you still haven't paid. And your friend hasn't paid either."

Anko snapped back to reality.

She clenched her teeth and tried to reason with him, but he refused.

"Sister, you cannot leave until you pay," he said firmly—frustration leaking into his voice.

Anko trembled with rage.

"Damn you, Shintoki… You'll pay this tenfold."

Watching Anko's desperate attempts made Shintoki calm down.

"…Fine. I'd better stop this before it gets out of hand. Knowing her temper, she'll definitely do something stupid if I don't show up."

He stepped out.

"Please, listen—"

"No, you listen!" the owner barked. "You either pay, or I call the police force!"

"I'm back! I forgot something at home and left to retrieve it. Please forgive me, sir," Shintoki said quickly.

"SHINTOKIIIII! Take THIS!"

Anko lunged at him with a punch, but he dodged while laughing.

They paid, then left—Anko chasing Shintoki while throwing punches.

"COME BACK HERE! YOU MUST TASTE MY ANGER!"

Meanwhile, Ebisu rushed toward Shintoki's house after being told to come.

When he entered—

"Hello, Shintoki. Anko—"

He froze.

Shintoki's face was covered in blue paint.

Anko's face was also blue.

"What… what happened to you two?! Don't tell me you fought again—and this time you went too far!"

Ebisu scolded them like an exasperated parent.

"Shut up! It's all Shintoki's fault!" Anko yelled. "That bastard—raising a hand on a lady!"

Shintoki snorted.

"A lady? Hahahaha! As if! You're just an annoying girl who causes trouble for everyone!"

Anko's face flared red with fury.

Before she erupted, Ebisu quickly intervened.

"Hey—hey! What are we doing today?"

"We already trained plenty. Today, I want to test something."

Shintoki pulled out a scroll.

"It's called the Arrow Array Seal. It's still experimental, but I need you guys to test it so I can see what's missing. Of course, I could test it myself… but where's the fun in that?"

He handed Ebisu a ninjatō with sealing formulas on it.

"All you need to do is channel chakra into the weapon. It'll fire kunai and shuriken automatically."

Ebisu's eyes glittered with excitement.

They moved to an empty training field—Shintoki didn't want any more accidental destruction.

Ebisu gripped the ninjatō, took a stance, and channeled chakra.

Immediately waves of shuriken and kunai blasted out, the force creating shockwave that obliterate the tree.
