Chapter 72 – Fight Finish
[MC POV]
By now, Nami had finished clearing out the remaining small fries.
Kuina had already taken down Hachi. She defeated him with ease, though she had deliberately left him alive. For her, the fight had never been a challenge.
What surprised me the most was Kaya.
She was far more battle-hungry than I had expected. Watching her fight, it almost felt as if she had turned into a completely different person—feral, relentless, and terrifyingly powerful. She didn't fight like a doctor or even a swordswoman. She fought like a warrior.
'So this is what years of confinement did to her? She really does have a wild side.'
Her fighting style reminded me strongly of Tsunade from Naruto. She was suited for raw power, overwhelming force, and brutal close combat.
'She's a born medical monster. Maybe I should buy a monstrous strength technique for her from the System store.'
Nami had also defeated many Fishmen on her own. I had helped her here and there using my Conqueror's Haki to thin the pressure, but most of the enemies she took down with her own strength. Her growth was obvious.
Nojiko had joined the fight early on, but once she saw her sister venting years of anger and hatred on the Fishmen, she stayed close to me instead. She only stepped in when necessary, quietly watching over Nami's back.
I was standing beside Nojiko while observing everything calmly.
Soon, it looked like all the Fishmen had been defeated.
But I knew better.
Using my Observation Haki, I could clearly sense Arlong's presence. He wasn't finished yet. He was pretending to be defeated, buried beneath broken stone, shattered walls, and concrete from the destroyed Arlong Park.
He was waiting and planning a sneak attack.
And honestly, I was waiting too.
After all, what kind of captain would I be if I didn't arrive at the perfect moment to save the damsel in distress?
"Nami! I told you I'd kick Arlong's ass!"
Lily shouted cheerfully. She was clearly satisfied after finishing her fight.
In the original story, Luffy had struggled hard to defeat Arlong. It had taken time, pain, and desperation. But now, after meeting me and taking multiple potions, the fight had been intense but clean. Lily wasn't even seriously injured.
She had crushed him.
The others gathered around me, smiling and relaxed, convinced the battle was over.
But my eyes never left the rubble.
I saw it clearly.
Arlong was moving.
"Shark on Darts!!"
Arlong sprinted forward using every last drop of his remaining strength, but this time he was not charging at us. Instead, he aimed straight for the building.
"Human trash!! How dare you kill my companions?!" He roared, his voice filled with madness and hatred.
"Even if I cannot defeat you, I can still slaughter your weaker members!! Take this as my final revenge against you filthy humans!!"
The structure was already unstable, its foundations trembling under the damage it had taken. With a savage roar, Arlong struck the supporting beams again and again, putting everything he had into the attack.
The force was so brutal that his nose shattered, blood spraying across his face, but he refused to stop. Gritting his teeth, he slammed his head forward in one last desperate move. The impact cracked his skull, yet it succeeded in destroying the final support beams.
Deep fractures spread across the building along the walls. The entire structure began to give way with a loud cracking sound.
"The building is falling! Get away from it!"
Kuina shouted and she immediately grabbed the nearest person, Kaya, pulling her close and rushing away from the danger zone.
At the same time, Lily stretched out her arm, her rubber-like ability snapping forward to catch Nami and yank her away from the collapsing structure.
"How can that fishman be so full of hatred?!" Lily shouted angrily. "What a disgusting piece of scum!!"
"Where are Nojiko and Alex?!"
All four girls were safe, but panic quickly set in when they realized that Nojiko and I were nowhere to be seen. Nami was the most shaken of all. Her breath grew shallow as fear tightened her chest, her thoughts spiraling out of control as the building collapsed behind us.
Tears welled up in her eyes as she stared at the ruins. A small explosion erupted within the debris, flames spreading outward with a loud boom that sent shockwaves through the ground.
"NO!!"
Her knees buckled, her body trembling as she nearly fainted from worry. The other three girls were also clearly shaken, their faces pale as they stared at the burning wreckage.
Then, through the fire and falling debris, a figure slowly emerged.
I walked forward calmly as the flames were booming behind me. In my arms, I was carrying the blushing Nojiko in a princess-style hold. She was unharmed. She was leaning gently against my chest.
Another explosion went off behind me, sending flames and smoke into the sky, yet I didn't even glance back.
I continued walking toward the girls like a hero stepping out of a battlefield.
In that moment, only one thought crossed my mind.
'A true warrior never looks back at an explosion.'
…
…
"Thank God!! Nojiko, you're safe!!" Nami cried out in pure relief.
"Yes… I'm safe," Nojiko replied, tears streaming down her face as well.
The two sisters threw themselves into each other's arms and clung tightly together as they cried, releasing all their fear and tension. Watching them reunite was enough to soften even the harshest hearts.
Kaya smiled warmly at the scene, her eyes shining with relief.
Kuina looked down at the ground, pretending not to care, but a small, unmistakable smile tugged at her lips.
Lily, on the other hand, had a bright, beaming grin. She was clearly happy that everything had ended safely.
Then, without warning, Nami suddenly turned and jumped into my arms.
"Thank you," she said softly, holding me tightly. "Thank you for saving the village. I couldn't have done it without you. And… thank you for saving Nojiko."
Her body pressed against mine. She was trembling slightly, making it clear how shaken she still was.
"Thank you, Mister Alex," Nojiko said as she stepped closer. "You defeated the pirate crew and saved our village. You killed our mother's murderer… thank you for giving us our revenge."
Her face was still faintly red, likely from being carried in my arms earlier, and she avoided my eyes for a moment before smiling again.
"Two sisters at once," Kuina muttered, her voice low and sharp. "You really are shameless."
"Huh?!" Lily shouted. "Nami, it was me who kicked Arlong's ass! I'm the hero here! I should be the one getting the princess!"
She puffed out her chest in an exaggerated, childish way, clearly annoyed as she watched me surrounded by two beauties. It was obvious she was jealous.
"You want a woman?" Kuina replied coldly. "You're women, and you don't have a dick. What exactly are you planning to do with a woman? You can't fuck. You're not like that pervert Alex anyway."
"H-Hey!! I can stretch my clit using my devil fruit power!!" Lily protested.
"Captain Lily seems so innocent," Kaya teased with a playful smile.
Nami and Nojiko both smiled at that, but then they glanced at each other. A faint blush crept onto both of their cheeks, and neither of them noticed that their legs felt strangely weak.
