Chapter 11 - Chapter Eleven: Navaiah

Nairel sat at her bedside wishing he knew how to wake her up. She wasn't sleeping beauty and he wasn't sure he was her true love. "Kid, you like her?" Darel asked as soon as he came through the door. Nairel didn't have to answer. It was written all over his ice cold face at this moment.

"She is hurting", Nairel said after a moment of silence. Darel looked at him "How do you know?", "I can feel it, but i don't know how to wake her up" Nairel said, dejection in his voice.

"Thinking about leaving her without showing her my heart makes me want to bleed. What if someone else comes along? what if i remain her father's secretary in her heart?"

Darel stared at the sulking century old fae beside the bed, surprise in his eyes.

'Thud', a servant dropped to his knees outside the door. " Your highness, the master has returned." Nairel lifted up his head, his silver hair covering his silver blue eyes. He didn't wish to welcome his boss. he had no reason to stand up. He cast his gaze on Darel who grunted in understanding.

He went down following the servant to welcome his brother. Damian didn't come up on his own, causing Darel to furrow his brows. Dareevah and her husband were currently resting in their room so he was left with Nairel to guard his Niece.

Walking down the stairs, he first set his eyes on a man sitting comfortable on the cushion in the living room. His silver-blue hair flowing down past his shoulders his pointed ears peeking through his hair. Darel faced his back, the man's features hidden from him but he knew it was a fae. 'was he here for Nairel?' he wondered.

The man's ears twitched slightly catching the steps of the person coming down the stairs. He turned around with a light smile on his enchanting face. Darel saw the man's face, an exact replica of the fae prince upstairs. he could guess who this was.

" Darel i presume. your fame precedes you", Darel nodded to the Fae king. His eyes betraying his lack of concern. Just as silence resumed between the two, Damian walked in from the study room on the ground floor. "Lets go up" Damian said turning his face to his brother.

Navaiah had served Damian before he had to go back to inherit the throne. His son took his position waiting for his turn to take the throne from his father which was to happen at least a millennia later.

The door to Raven's room opened. Nairel lifted his head from her face to the door, his eyes widening as he noticed the smiling face popping through the door. "Father... what are you doing here?" , " Baby Nai, papa's here to see you." Navaiah teased as he walked through the door, Nairel turned away, the tips of his pointed ears reddening from the embarrassment. 'what is he doing here?'. " AAH, is this my pretty daughter in law?" Damian's cold gaze landed on his body causing him to shiver. "Baby Nai, you've got work to do".

" Anyways....Damian what's going on?" Navaiah said, his voice going deeper. Damian resumed his calm demeanor recounting the 'story of their life'.

'Silence', it followed after them like a stalking prey. Navaiah said nothing as he digested the details surrounding the 'finding' of Damian's little daughter.

" So... even you don't know who she is and how she might've come to you?" , Navaiah asked, doubt evident in his low tone. Damian kept silent. His lack of a particular response affirmed Navaiah's conjecture.

" Damian, you do know that there is a possibility she is a threat. Don't you?", Damian subconsciously releases his blood aura, wrapping and filling every corner of the room. 'cold' a bone chilling cold spread out in the room, an unseen supporter blending with Damian's aura. Both deadly aura's coalesced into a single massive sword pointing its blade straight at the fae king. " Take heed of your words" Damian and Nairel said, their protective voices lapping together. Navaiah shivered, his face pale as if scared, but the smile on his ice blue lips betrayed his apparent fear.

" The fae kingdom has always stayed away from conflict, hardly anyone actually knows where it is. She'll be safer there.... Let me bond with my daughter in-law" his smile now one of sincere reassurance. Damian stood before the fae king, silent. His eyes lowered and his aura withdrawn. "No..., she's safer with me". 'Selfish? yes he was, he couldn't her leaving him. She was after all his daughter. Since he could remember, he had neither a wife nor a lover. he was always 'alone', surrounded only by his brother and sister. Their parents present once upon a time. he could hardly remember their warmth. he doubted they even had warmth. Losing Raven had never crossed his mind before. He had found warmth that wasn't Darel or Dareevah, why would he agree to drown in ice again.

He supported not the idea of 'teenage independence', but he did however adapt to it. 'wasn't that enough?', now the world wanted him to give her away to be hidden from his sight.... Never!

Damian clenched and unclenched his fist. his determination shining in his blood red eyes. He would never give her up. Not to the world. Not to the darkness. Not to the masses that plead to drain her.

Navaiah sighed. A deep one. His deep silvery-blue eyes shifting to the pale girl on the bed. her breathing shifting between labored and soft. his smile returned. The little lady was unaware of the turmoil in the hearts of those around her.
