Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Reflection Of A Ghost

Liora's pov…

My life has always been from one hell to the next.

The universe didn't even allow me to catch a f*cking break.

As the cold metal pressed against my side. I braced myself for the inevitable

I hissed a bit from the throbbing pain in my head.

I didn't know whether I was hit or drugged or if I even fainted, I didn't remember anything from after I was caught.

At least I was still alive and breathing, though I knew it wouldn't be long.

Any moment and I would be joining Mama and Papa in the afterlife… if there was one.

A wobbly smile tried to play on my lips.

But Yonah… I can't leave him alone in this world, and especially not in the hands of that b*stard.

"God please, if I survive this. I promise to work ten times harder to get back to him ." I prayed silently beneath my breath.

Everywhere was pitch black except the moon casting a soft glow into the room.

With my bare feet on the marble floor, a cold ran down my spine.

The gun pressed to my side as the only indication I wasn't alone, though I couldn't see the person holding it.

I was strapped to a chair, with both my legs and hands tied on opposite sides exposing my thighs completely.

Regret lurched deep within me. I should have stayed hidden… I shouldn't have even taken the job.

But it was too late now because I was in the midst of a nightmare.

"You're awake." The cold voice spoke from behind, pressing the heavy piece of metal deeper into my skin as a silent warning.

I stayed frozen in place, not like I could even move.

His face came into view and a small gasp escaped my lips when my eyes met his.

His eyes spelled terror, but they drew me in all the more. I couldn't bring myself to shift my gaze.

He stared back like he could see through my soul, through my broken heart and torment and he was about to wreak more havoc on it.

Neither of us spoke, just his bright blue eyes shining in the dark, staring back at me, and I saw my reflection clearly through them.

It was like staring into the ocean.

"What's your name? Little bird." His cool breath brushed over my skin leaving a trail of goose bumps with it.

His scent enveloped me. I could perceive weed mixed with oud, the combination making my mind hazy.

His words were like a dump of cold water on my body.

Reminding me of the devil right in front of me, he didn't have a soul in him, just a black hole deep within.

To these twisted b*stards, this was a sport for them.

He brought a candle to my face, causing me to flinch.

I turned my face away from the light.

A smirk played on his lips, "So the little bird is scared of fire, which makes your name quite the irony. Don't you think so?"

Liora meant light. But how did he know my name?

I never told him my name, besides in the country I was registered with Sera.

Which meant he knew.

I don't know why, but it didn't surprise me that he did.

Who exactly is this man in front of me?

I forced my gaze back to him, looking past the candlelight light and then it occurred to me.

I had seen this face a lot. He is a Baltimore.

Not just one of them, he was the CEO of the Baltimore group; Dominic.

"What do you want with me?" I managed to mutter.

That was the only reasonable line of thought for me because I was still breathing and alive.

"You have something that is mine."

I didn't even know these men apart from seeing them on the internet, blogs, and magazines, and then the massacre I witnessed.

"I have nothing of yours." I spat out.

"I won't be so sure about that."

"You are going to be here until I figure out what to do with you."

I watched his retreating form walk through the door. I yelled, tossed and turned, but he didn't flinch. He just left.

Leaving me once more to be enveloped in the darkness.

After hours and hours of fighting with my restraints, I gave in, allowing the weight of today's event to pull me to sleep.

This was until my eyes shot open and I was met with another pair of icy blues.

While Dominic was careful not to touch me, only using the gun as a contact, this one was daring.

He ran his fingers through my hair gripping a handful of it before raising my gaze to meet him.

A small smirk played on his lips.

"I can't wait to see the things you can do." He rested his head on mine breathing into my scent.

I scuffled in my seat to push him away, but he didn't budge; rather, a mocking laugh broke out from him.

Everyone knew Damien's reputation with women, it was no news that the things he did with the elite women around him.

"I am not doing anything for you." I spat out, tempted to actually spit on him.

"Hmm, we'll see about that." He still held that smirk, I so much wanted to smack it from his face.

He traced his fingers along the corners of my face, and I turned my face away from him avoiding his burning gaze.

He brought his hands to my lips, parting them a bit and then he… left.

To the public, these men were almost like gods walking upon the earth dominating the business world.

If only they knew they were masked devils playing god.

They were nothing but men who enjoy a mental game of torture.

I need to get away from them. I can't be caught up in their games, only God knows what exactly they want with me.

And then there were two; staring at me with deep blues.

One avoided my gaze while the other stared at me with a burning gaze.

He had a knife in his hands, it was so shiny with a blade that looked so sharp it would cut through a rock easily.

I gulped with wide eyes as he turned my wrist up, and brought the knife closer.

He trailed the knife down my arms lightly but it left a trail of blood with it.

Then he stopped at my wrist when the restraint bonded it to the chair and then it snapped in less than a second of contact with his knife.

He did the same with my other hand.

When he bent over to cut the ones at my feet, he paused a bit, and heat pooled within my core because I knew he just saw me bare.

In seconds he masked his expression and snapped the restraint as well.

After he was done, Dominic came into view; he was hidden in a dark corner of the room.

I didn't even know he was there, or how long he stood there, or whether there was a hidden door he came through.

Figuring these brothers out was going to be hard and this hell of a place would be harder.

"You are coming with me." He spoke adjusting the straps of his watch.

"I am not going anywhere with you, the only place I am going is home." I managed to speak boldly, determined not to show how affected I was by their presence.

He didn't reply; he snapped his fingers, and then two huge men came from God knows where.

One of them carried me in a swift motion over his shoulder.

I tossed and hit and yelled, "Put me down." The man didn't bulge.

Dominic trickled behind him watching my every move, his expression blank without any indication of his plan.
