The sun had long set over Cross Academy, leaving the campus bathed in pale moonlight. The Night Class was in session, as usual — pureblood vampires moving with perfect poise, their arrogance almost tangible.
But tonight, two new students sat quietly in the back row, and even the most confident purebloods seemed subtly uneasy.
A Strange Presence
Yuki Cross and Zero Kiryuu had come to the academy to check on Night Class activity, as they sometimes did under Headmaster Cross's guidance. Peering through the slightly ajar door of the Night Class lecture hall, they froze.
"There… there are new students," Yuki whispered, her amber eyes narrowing.
Zero followed her gaze."They're… different," he muttered, sensing an aura that made the air heavier, colder.
One boy was lean and elegant, dark tousled hair falling over golden eyes that seemed to drink in every shadow. The other was tall, broad-shouldered, with steel-gray eyes that made the classroom seem smaller, more dangerous.
"They're not ordinary students," Zero said quietly, instinctively stepping slightly in front of Yuki.
Silent Observation
Lucas leaned forward lazily, golden eyes flicking over the pureblood students with an expression that was almost playful — but beneath it hid a calculating predator. He noted every gesture, every twitch, every hint of overconfidence.
Jack remained perfectly still beside him, radiating a quiet but undeniable threat. Even in human form, his presence caused weaker vampires to glance nervously around the room.
Yuki felt the subtle shift in energy first."Zero… I don't like this," she whispered. He didn't answer, only observing the two new students with his usual wariness.
Testing the Purebloods
A cocky young vampire leaned toward a friend, smirking."Those new transfers… they're just human-looking fools. Bet they break if we push them."
Lucas's head tilted slightly. His faint, icy smile didn't move his lips but carried a psychic weight. The boy froze for a split second, unnerved.
Jack's hand brushed the desk, subtle and dangerous. Yuki could feel it even from outside the room — a silent warning that crossing these two would be unwise.
Zero whispered, "They're testing them… and maybe us."
First Impressions
When class ended, the students filed out, leaving Lucas and Jack seated, calm and unbothered. Yuki and Zero stepped fully into the hallway.
"Who… are they?" Yuki asked softly, sensing danger she couldn't define.
Lucas turned, golden eyes meeting hers. His smile was polite but carried a subtle, predatory warning."We're just… observers," he said quietly. "Arrogance is fascinating to watch. Especially when it comes from vampires who think they own the night."
Jack's gray eyes swept over Yuki and Zero. He said nothing, but the silent intensity made both dhampirs instinctively step back.
Zero tightened his grip on his weapon."They're not ordinary students. Watch carefully."
Lucas leaned slightly toward Jack, a private gesture, and whispered:"Let them notice. Let them wonder. The game begins now."
Closing Tension
Yuki's amber eyes never left them, concern and curiosity mixed in equal measure."They're dangerous…" she muttered.
Zero's gaze lingered on the empty seats where the two boys had been."Very dangerous," he agreed.
Meanwhile, in the shadows of the Night Class hallway, Lucas and Jack shared a brief, knowing glance.
Lucas's golden eyes softened for a moment."They've seen us."
Jack's faint smile mirrored hers — not affection, but acknowledgment."Good. Let them watch. Let them fear."
Outside, Cross Academy's moonlit grounds stretched silently. Two predators had entered the Night Class, and neither the purebloods nor the dhampirs fully understood the storm that had begun.
