Ezekiel's POV
The cafeteria buzzed with its typical chaos. Students crowded around tables while the scent of greasy pizza and burnt french fries filled the air. Trays banged against each other as everyone fought for space in the lunch line.
I claimed our regular spot with Anton, Kane, and some other guys from the football team. Anton was doing what he did best, talking nonstop about Friday's upcoming game. His hands moved wildly as he described plays and strategies. Meanwhile, Kane sat there looking ready to punch someone. His muscles were tense, his face twisted in anger, and he'd barely touched his food.
I knew exactly why he was pissed.
The whole school was still talking about this morning's showdown in the hallway. Ximena had completely demolished Kane in front of everyone, and the story was spreading like wildfire. I had to admit, watching her stand up to him like that was pretty impressive. She'd shown a side of herself I'd never seen before.
