Ximena's POV
Tuesday mornings had always been my enemy. The constant battle of dragging myself from beneath warm covers, scrambling around my room in a panic, barely managing to grab something resembling breakfast before rushing to school.
But this morning was completely different.
I found myself waking up with an actual smile on my face.
Memories from the bonfire kept flooding back in waves. The warm glow of the fire, voices mixing with laughter all around us, Glenda pulling me from group to group to introduce me to people, and most importantly, Ezekiel.
Just thinking about him made heat rise in my cheeks.
The moment when our hands had touched ever so briefly.
The way his voice had turned dark and commanding when he told Kane to leave me alone.
That split second when I was absolutely certain he was going to kiss me.
He didn't, of course.
But the fact that he almost did was currently turning my thoughts into complete chaos.
