Ximena's POV
I have no memory of how I ended up here.
One moment I was standing in Kane's crowded living room, my heart shattering as the words exploded from my lips. The next, I was stumbling through the front door, running down the sidewalk without shoes, my face streaked with mascara and my chest burning.
Now I'm collapsed on Glenda's bed, gripping her pillow like it's the only thing preventing me from completely falling apart.
Her room carries the scent of vanilla candles, sweet and comforting, but it can't quiet the chaos tearing through me.
I keep seeing their faces. Ezekiel's shocked expression. Anton's bewilderment. Kane shuffling his feet like he wanted to disappear.
I keep hearing that awful silence that followed my breakdown, the way every conversation stopped and every pair of eyes turned to me like I was entertainment.
But the worst part is what I still feel.
The way my heart shattered when Ezekiel stood there speechless, offering not one word to defend me.
