My hand never connected with Joseph's face.
Instead, as he lifted his small, defiant face toward the furious woman, tears flooded his eyes the moment he saw me.
His mom was here! Mom had arrived!
The sight of me filled him with hope, but it also released all the sadness he'd been bottling up inside.
"Who are you? Why are you grabbing me?" Mrs. Sinclair snapped, fighting to free her wrist.
Traffic had delayed me, but I never imagined I'd walk into this nightmare. Watching my son get insulted and nearly hit sent fury coursing through my veins.
This woman and her brat thought they could mess with my son?
Big mistake. They were about to learn what happened when someone crossed me.
"So you want to strike my son? Let's see who's brave enough to touch him!" My icy stare made Mrs. Sinclair shrink back. I shoved her hand away with force and pulled Joseph behind me.
