Screeeech!
Accompanied by the screech of tires, Luna opened the door and stepped out of a black sedan, smiling and waving at the two men lying on the park bench: "Hi! You both look well."
"Nine minutes and twenty-five seconds. Your control over time and distance truly surprised me. Aren't you going to explain yourself?" Allen asked, staring at his watch with a meaningful look.
"Don't rush. I promise I'll give you a satisfactory answer. But before that, I need to formally introduce you to someone: my best friend and partner."
With that, Luna pointed to the woman who emerged from the other side of the car, wearing a black crop top and denim shorts.
The latter walked straight over and proactively extended her right hand: "Hello, my name is Reese. It's a pleasure to meet you."
"Apologies, but I don't want any physical contact until I understand your ability," Allen refused to shake hands without hesitation.
Although he possessed the ability to "Nen-exorcise" to a certain extent, he still maintained a considerable degree of vigilance toward unfamiliar Nen users.
Heaven knows if some individuals deliberately use a handshake as the prerequisite condition for activation, developing perverse Nen abilities based on it.
"That's fine. I appreciate your caution. Because in the world of Nen, only those who are vigilant enough survive till the end." Far from being angered, Reese showed an expression of appreciation.
"So, after all this effort, what is your purpose in finding me? Or rather, what do you want me to help you with?" Allen asked directly.
It was evident that by analyzing Luna's actions and abilities, he had already basically concluded that these two women must want something from him.
Otherwise, they could have easily sold his location and itinerary to information brokers for enormous profit.
"Have you heard of The Raven?"
Reese immediately threw out the name of a mysterious assassin organization that was extremely obscure and unknown even within the Nen community.
After all, whenever the word 'assassin' is brought up, the first thing everyone thinks of is the Zoldyck Family.
That's because the Zoldyck Family never conceals itself; anyone in need can find and contact them.
"The Raven? Hmm, I seem to recall they were a group that faded into obscurity about seven or eight years ago?" Allen rubbed his chin, quickly searching his mind for relevant memories.
While searching for wanted criminals before, he had seen small amounts of information and records about "The Raven" on the Hunter website. He only knew that they were a group of top assassins, most active about ten years ago, but for some unknown reason, they gradually disappeared from public view later on.
More interestingly, not even the resourceful Hunter Association had managed to get their photos or detailed information; they couldn't even confirm the number of members.
The only thing known was that these individuals killed without batting an eye, and in every operation, they indiscriminately murdered all surrounding witnesses to ensure their true identities were never revealed to outsiders.
Reese nodded slightly: "That's right. It's them. If I told you we have detailed information on these guys, would you be interested?"
"Oh? You have a personal grudge against them?"
Allen keenly caught the flash of anger and hatred that flickered in her eyes.
However, considering the countless wanted criminals on the Hunter website and the pages upon pages of information on Nen criminal organizations, a situation like this was nothing to be surprised about.
Killing and being killed!
Hunting and being hunted!
These are the core themes of the Hunter x Hunter world.
As soon as one becomes a Nen user, they will inevitably face this reality.
And the relatives and friends of those who die can't simply accept everything; they will naturally try to find the 'murderer' to seek revenge.
One only needs to look at the number of invasions the Zoldyck Family suffers every year to know that avengers are not scarce in this world.
The only problem is that without sufficient strength to back it up, so-called revenge is basically equivalent to throwing one's life away for nothing.
Reese clearly had no intention of hiding anything and openly admitted: "That's right. Luna and I are both victims, and survivors, of The Raven's last operation.
"It was precisely because of that slip-up that they were forced to vanish into thin air.
"However, those bastards didn't realize that Luna possesses two extremely unique forms of Nen.
"One is the 'Hunting Map,' the specific ability of which you should already be clear about.
"Besides that, she has another, 'Eyes of the Dead.'
"This means that for every hunter or prey marked by the 'Hunting Map,' regardless of who kills whom, she can record every image seen by the deceased's eyes in the ten minutes before their death, without missing a single detail.
"However, Luna herself cannot see these recordings, but she can allow a third party to view them by maintaining eye contact.
"The target of The Raven's final assassination operation happened to be the person our team was assigned to protect.
"When they launched their attack, Luna quickly used the Hunting Map to cover everyone on both sides.
"But due to the disparity in strength, our team suffered heavy casualties, and only she and I managed to survive.
"However, in order to lull them into a false sense of security, we did not publicly disclose the identities and abilities of The Raven's members afterward. Instead, we patiently waited and searched for a suitable person to help us carry out this act of revenge."
"So... I'm the person you've deemed suitable? Why didn't you approach the Zoldyck Family? They are the most appropriate people for this kind of job, aren't they?" Allen countered, puzzled.
"Did you think we didn't try? But the price the Zoldyck Family quoted was too high, so high that we couldn't possibly pay it. However, if it's you, we are willing to offer our abilities as compensation for you to eliminate all members of The Raven organization." Reese stated the condition concisely.
She clearly understood that it would be impossible to reach an agreement on something like this without offering something that truly tempted the other party.
"Exchanging abilities as compensation, you say? That might be acceptable. But before that, I need a complete understanding of your abilities. Is that agreeable?"
The moment he heard the word 'abilities,' an expression of interest immediately appeared on Allen's face.
He couldn't help but be interested.
What he currently lacked the most were auxiliary abilities like tracking and positioning.
If he could incorporate the 'Hunting Map' and 'Eyes of the Dead' into his repertoire, finding wanted criminals would become much more convenient.
"No problem!" Reese agreed instantly, simultaneously activating her Nen. "First is my ability, the Heartbeat Watch."
The moment the words left her mouth, a heart-shaped pocket watch materialized in her hand out of thin air.
"As you can see, this watch has three hands and six markers.
"The latter represent the heart's beating frequency: stop, very slow, slow, fast, very fast, and burst.
"The former, like a watch's hour, minute, and second hands, represent different time variables.
"When the second hand points to 'very slow,' the heartbeat will instantly slow down within one second; if it's the minute hand, it means within one minute, and so on.
"However, these hands cannot be changed freely. It depends on the duration of the combat.
"For example, if I've been fighting an opponent for one second, I can change the second hand once; if it's for one minute, I can change the minute hand once. This is how I disrupt the heart's beating frequency, affecting the opponent's body, movements, and battle rhythm.
"If the fight lasts for over an hour, I can directly stop the target's heart, or cause it to burst instantly.
"Of course, stopping the heart or causing it to burst can only be used after meeting the condition for the hour hand's rotation.
"Furthermore, I can also change my own heartbeat frequency to allow my muscles to receive more oxygen supply for a short time, thereby significantly boosting my burst power..."
