Chapter 1 - The beginning

Hey everyone, guess who's back? I apologize for being away for so long, but I'm bringing you a new story. I'll be revising and rewriting some parts of my other stories.

Thank you for your patience with me, thank you for everything.

The afternoon sun filtered through the treetops of the suburb, tinting the leaves with warm golden tones.

The breeze blew softly, carrying the sweet scent of freshly cut grass and the distant hum of a lawnmower. The street was quiet — one of those peaceful American neighborhood avenues where time seemed to move slowly, and the loudest sounds were children laughing or the metallic rattle of bicycle chains hitting the pedals.

Ryan walked along the curb, his face slightly scrunched in concentration. His small hands gripped the handlebars of a light-blue bicycle, the training wheels removed only a week earlier.

His messy blond hair danced in the wind as he tried to steady himself, blue eyes focused on the straight path ahead. Behind him, his mother ran with a gentle smile — the kind of smile only a mother can have when torn between pride and fear.

"That's it, Ryan ! You're doing great !" she exclaimed, her voice soft and encouraging.

Becca Butcher, in jeans and a simple white shirt, looked like a living painting of serenity. The sun cast a golden glow on her brown hair, and her green eyes followed her son's every move with tenderness.

There was something almost poetic about the moment: just a mother, a child, and the sound of wheels scraping the asphalt.

But fate, as always, had other plans.

Ryan looked back, wanting to see his mother's smile — wanting to hear her encouragement once more. And in that brief second, he lost his balance.

The front wheel jerked sharply, his small body tilted, and before Becca could reach him, the boy fell hard onto the ground.

His helmet hit the asphalt with a dry crack, the sound echoing down the street.

"Ryan !" she shouted, running toward him.

The world seemed to slow down. The wind's sound faded, the warmth of the sun became distant. Ryan's small body lay still for a moment.

The fall wasn't strong enough to seriously injure him, but something inside him — something far deeper than flesh and bone — fractured.

Inside his mind, the void lit up.

Fragments appeared like echoes of a life that didn't belong to that world. Disconnected images: unfamiliar buildings, a bedroom with a glowing computer screen, the familiar feel of hands typing across a keyboard, voices, laughter. Memories that shouldn't exist.

And then, confusion.

The boy opened his eyes slowly, breathing with difficulty. His blurred vision revealed Becca's worried face hovering over him, eyes watery, breath quick and panicked.

"My love… are you okay ?" she whispered, her voice trembling as she checked for injuries.

Ryan blinked, trying to understand what he was seeing. Her face was familiar — too familiar.

Only now, to this new "him," that face also belonged to something much bigger: Becca Butcher, the woman who, in The Boys, was hidden away from Homelander to protect her son.

The boy's heart — or rather, the man inside him — froze.

'This is impossible…' he thought.

His old memories clashed with the new ones, creating a chaotic symphony inside his young mind.

He remembered his death — yes, how he had died in another world — and now he was here, in the body of the son of one of the most powerful and terrifying beings on Earth: Homelander.

But in that moment, looking at the woman who held him with such genuine love, Ryan felt something that even shock couldn't erase. A warm feeling. A mother's tenderness. Real affection.

Becca held him tightly against her chest, as if the smallest movement might take him away from her.

"You scared me, little one…" she whispered, touching her forehead to his. "I thought you were hurt…"

The boy — now fully aware of who he truly was — hesitated before responding. His small voice escaped weakly:

"I… I'm okay, Mom."

And at that moment, he realized the weight of what had happened.

It wasn't just a second chance.

It was a new life.

In a brutal world where heroes were monsters and innocence was a fragile flame, he was now the son of the most feared man on Earth — and the only ray of light in the heart of a woman fighting to protect him from everything.

The sun began to set, painting the sky in shades of orange and pink. Becca smiled, relieved, unaware that her son's eyes — for a brief moment — held a maturity and depth no child should possess.

Ryan watched the horizon and felt the weight of destiny settle onto his small shoulders.

The cold breeze brushed his skin.

And as the world continued its quiet march forward, a new consciousness awakened — fragile, human, and determined — within the body of a boy who would soon learn what it truly meant to be Ryan Butcher.
