Back on the palace grounds, Kraur shifted his attention from Xander to Emperor Alexander.
He studied the older man for a moment before speaking, his expression carrying a strange mixture of familiarity and detachment.
"Based on the memories carried by my host, you appear to be his father."
He paused, then gave Alexander a slight nod.
"You have my salutations. And my condolences."
Alexander frowned.
"Condolences? What are you talking about?"
"The truth is not complicated, human." Kraur looked down at him, his white hair drifting gently in the air. "The Heavens have granted me another opportunity to live. It makes no difference that I have been given a mortal's body. I will find a way to overcome its limitations and return to my former peak."
His tone was calm, almost as though he were discussing an ordinary matter.
"However, that also means you will not be seeing your son again. At least, not until I have fulfilled everything I need to accomplish."
