Chapter 1 - World Merged, Destiny Forged

"The Lord of the Dead arrives, treading upon bones!"

"To look down upon the masses, wielding life and death from the thrones."

"..."

In the Divine Dragon Empire, River Ning Province, Westsea City.

On the sports ground of Westsea First High School, several class holders were setting up a magic array.

Today, over one hundred senior students from Westsea First High School would undergo their unified class change.

The students sat in orderly rows, listening to Principal Victor Stone's speech.

"Students, after three years of study, you have now learned and mastered the theoretical knowledge about class holders."

"Today will be your class change day, the day that decides your future lives."

"I won't waste words here. I hope each of you can reach the heights of your senior, Arthur Knightley, and become pillars of our human race."

The Arthur Knightley that Principal Stone mentioned was a former student of the school who had acquired the class of Divine Mage and was now a highly respected figure at Level 80. Principal Stone often used his achievements to teach and inspire the students.

Morintis gazed at the nearly completed class-change array on the sports ground, his expression calm but slightly anticipatory.

Having been in this world for several years, he already understood what kind of world it was.

This was a world merged with games, where everyone underwent a class change in their senior year of high school.

Clearing dungeons, conquering secret realms, joining battles, or killing monsters in the wild—all granted experience.

Gaining experience raised one's level, honed skills, and increased strength.

They fought against various demonic monsters, carving out living space for humanity.

Countless human pioneers had shed their blood and sacrificed their lives to secure the life they had now.

The success rate of the class change had long reached 100%; it was only a matter of the quality of the class obtained.

The most sought-after were naturally the main Combat classes, followed by Support classes, with Life classes being the least desired overall.

But this was only a general classification. While Combat classes were highly valued, it didn't mean Support and Life classes were inferior.

Powerful Support classes were also highly prized. Whether in dungeons, secret realms, or on the front lines, Support classes were indispensable.

In some situations, people would rather have one less damage dealer than be without a Support.

The same held true for Life classes. There had been Mythical-tier Life class holders in the past who were also exceptionally powerful.

In Morintis's understanding, whether a class was powerful or not depended mainly on the person.

There were weak Combat class holders and god-like Support class holders.

As a beam of light shot into the sky, the class-change array was completed.

Principal Stone waved his hand, "Follow me, let's go!"

He led the over one hundred senior students onto the sports ground.

Morintis followed the line, wondering what class he would get.

What class one received was entirely uncertain.

Some people who usually performed averagely ended up with powerful Combat classes.

Some who usually excelled academically only received Life classes.

Although he and Sophia were known as the two top geniuses of the school, what class they would actually get was only known once they entered the array.

Someone tapped his shoulder. Leo, with a grinning face, leaned in, "What class do you want the most?"

Morintis looked at him, shook his head slightly, and didn't answer.

Leo continued smiling, "Come on, tell me. It's fine. I'll tell you, I want to be a Knight the most. Look at me, tall and strong. I'd definitely look impressive as a Knight, plus I could protect the girls."

His physique was indeed quite suited for the Knight class.

But obtaining a Combat class was difficult.

Morintis had calculated the probability was only about 10%.

Out of these hundred-plus students, no more than fifteen would become Combat class holders.

Leo kept talking. Morintis just gave a faint smile and didn't respond.

Morintis spoke very little. Although his grades were excellent, he didn't have many friends.

Many people thought there was something wrong with him.

After saying a few more words, Leo went off to talk to others.

Someone pulled Leo aside, "Why are you talking to him? He won't answer you anyway."

"Exactly. So what if his grades are a bit better?"

"Who knows what class he'll get today? Maybe just a Life class."

A few people chattered away. Morintis's popularity among his classmates was average; many found him too cold and arrogant.

They thought he looked down on others because of his good grades.

Leo said, "Actually, Morintis just genuinely doesn't like talking much."

But no one believed him.

Morintis wouldn't bother explaining; it wasn't necessary.

The group arrived before the array. Principal Stone stepped forward and spoke respectfully to an elderly man, "Grandmaster Carter, we trouble you today."

Grandmaster Carter shook his head, "It is my duty."

Grandmaster Carter didn't hide his information; everyone could see it.

[Alistair Carter, Lv. 52, Array Master.]

Morintis was slightly surprised. He was actually an Array Master, and as high as Level 52.

The Array Master was a rare Support class, not commonly seen.

Array Masters were highly valued on the battlefield. Once an array was set up, anyone entering that area would likely die.

After exchanging a few pleasantries with Alistair Carter, Principal Stone returned.

He took out a list and looked at the students. "I will now call the names of the students who will enter the class-change array."

"Everything you need to know has been taught. You all know the procedure. Don't be nervous; just relax."

"The first one: Darren!"

Darren responded and stepped forward, walking into the class-change array with some trepidation.

The array hummed into operation. Accompanied by a burst of brilliant light, Darren's class change concluded.

[Life Class: Farmer]

Darren's face paled. He hadn't expected to become a Farmer.

"Darren became a Farmer."

"Being a Farmer isn't bad. If he can advance to a Great Farmhand or even a Sacred Farmhand later, it's a decent profession."

"Yeah, among Life classes, Farmer isn't the worst."
