Ever since the death of her father, Hasan Rahimi, her mother and her decided to move elsewhere for better opportunities. With the help of few relatives and selling off their property--Rahimi and her mother tearfully embraced their family and left for the U.S--After landing at the airport. Esma's eyes wandered at the colorful billboards, her eyes glinted in hope--Maybe, this is the start of her American dream. With the few thousand bucks they had, Rahimi and her mother rented out a shared apartment. They both found it hard to settle as back home had been so different--especially now with the language barrier. Esma, despite their struggles--Her mother soon enrolls her in a public high school. Kissing her mother's hands, Esma sets off. Her gaze wandered at the glass infrastructure--Gazing at it, she bumped into many. Murmuring a sorry with the heaviest accent which got her some condescending looks. The looks may have been because of her long modest attire. Though Esma didn't pay it a though--Her heart raced, what kind of school would it be? the one's she saw in movies? would they accept her? would the girls be mean to her? or like Uncle Abbas had warned--would the boys bad mouth her and harass her? She shook her head and forced a smile--Because whatever it is, she will face it. She kept walking. Just like she had before. She wandered around the subway, clutching at her backpack--Her amber eyes wandered in worry at the English signs. Though with the help of few people-she got to the bust stand--only to find that she was late and the bus had already set off. Giving a quick glance to her watch, she begins to run--Her heart raced, her head pulsated--Just then she gazed up to see a boy riding his bike--He glanced at her, his eyes widening--"WATCH IT!" Though her visioned blurred as they both then collided. The boy cursed under his breath--Will you...! his voice trailed off as he saw her worried amber-gaze, she clutched her hijab. S-Sorry... she says with a thick accent. His eyes were wide; he then blinked and nodded. She then began to collect her scattered books and walked off. Then-- Ayaz Özgür's warm brown eyes flickered at her leaving; he then ran a hand through his tousled hair as strand then fell and hovered over his lashes. His steps faltered then his eyes fell to the floor--it was a notebook, his breath hitched, it was hers. He then picked it up with precise care as he then examined it--Then he saw her name, delicately written. "Esma Rahimi" he breathed, his lips then curled in a mischievous smile--Esma Rahimi... testing the name on his mouth. Whoever this Esma Rahimi is... Her amber gaze then played out in his mind, then her lush forest like lashes, how they fluttered up at him in worry. His hands then slightly tightened the hold. --He will find out...

Chapter 1 - Synopsis

Esma Rahimi--An Afghan girl and a transfer student who suddenly finds herself in a completely new environment--in the bustling streets of NYC.

Giving a quick glance to her watch, she begins to run--Her heart raced, her head pulsated--Just then she gazed up to see a boy riding his bike--He glanced at her, his eyes widening--"WATCH IT!"

Though her visioned blurred as they both then collided.
