Chapter 5 - End of Canals of Light

[Ascension path of Eternal Deity was opened]

It is quite a nonchalant path. Here, triumph and failure were equally meaningless; in fact, it lay somewhere amidst the abyss. The conditions it holds were absurd.

The ascension path of Eternal Deity functioned on a system of pain. The more pain you bear and more scars you withstand, the stronger an Author gets. Even though the path was specially for the poets and the philosophists, it held quite gruesome pasts. But this wasn't something Leon was concerned about. The doomed sight of his mother hanging and his father beheaded was surely boosting his powers.

At that moment, the Author wasn't sad- yes…. It would be a lie to call that emotion sadness. In fact the Author was showing pity and empathy to the young couple. He was affected by the part where the same young couple couldn't even see their child getting bigger. They couldn't even name him and yet, the final destination arrived.

Drip….. the blood drop fell

Drip...

Drip...

And with the final drip, the grass around was flooded with blood of the vanguards who hesitated to attack the primordial force. Just a simple gaze- just a simple gaze- and every single soldier within the range was shredded to tiny pieces. Leon didn't feel anything by the blood shed. He wasn't cracked; he wasn't even appalled. He just kept going towards the town, all numb and dumbfounded. One step after the other, his murderous intent kept pushing him further. And as another vanguard came to his light, they met with the same faith.

One after another the vanguards were simply blasted off the sight. Leon was now on the streets of the town. There were numerous casualties, but still not every house was eradicated.

Another wave of Vanguard stood in front of Leon. But this time, something was different. The intensity and level of potency was significantly higher in this tide. He sensed it- the strength, the mindset- everything was different in this battalion. But it still wasn't enough. With just a simple, single gaze, another fifteen men were clustered into tiny pieces. The scene was so traumatizing that even the spectators were crapping out their souls. The attack was disastrous, but there was one single vanguard standing with his complete strength. He wasn't even scratched by gaze.

"Seems like I finally have to move a muscle," Leon said. But these words weren't as fluent and soft as his tone usually was. As the voice was harsh and gritty; he felt like a completely possessed being.

That's when the atmosphere changed. Leon saw his first mother right in front of his eyes. But the fact that struck him the most was her smile. This was the smile he was waiting to see in his past life. In that moment, the rumbling heart skipped a beat and Leon dropped down his hand. His mother slowly stepped towards him; the steps were slow and steady. He kept gazing at her with love and affection, noticing that her wrinkles were gone. In fact, she was looking much healthier.

"That's how she would have been if I had earned enough," he thought.

She was right there, in front of Leon. A tear finally dropped from her eye, and in that same instance, treachery banged in. A solid betrayal, as she stabbed Leon straight in his chest. His legs stumbled as he felt the pain and shock that trembled through him.

"Sorry, my dear son" she whispered "You need to die" the voice changed to Vanguard all of a sudden.

Of course, it was a disguise. It wasn't a betrayal- it was simply a camouflage.

"Don't be shocked, you little boy" he whispered "I knew I couldn't defeat you with sheer force. I had to opt for secondary tacts"

"Who declared my defeat?" Leon giggled as he gazed away from sight.

That's when the Vanguard felt the suspicious presence. He in that instance knew about his certain death. His camouflage was infiltrated by a mirage created by Leon.

Blood splurged all around as a hand just pierced right through the chest of the vanguard. And behind him was Leon with his hideous countenance. Even though the victory was simple, it was still bittersome. He had to pierce his hand through the image of his mother. That was devastating for him as he shed a few tears.

"Ahhh ....." the cry was loud enough to shudder everyone around. He was crying even louder as he recognised his past. The reincarnated body did resist some of the trauma from the history; but now each page was unveiled right in front of Leon's eye. The rage was undefined- it was strong enough to eliminate Vanguard miles away from Leon. It burned them, it melted their flesh, it gobbled their eyes and even the bones faded away. But it wasn't limited to them as the houses started to catch fire. The blazes were tall and haunting for the families. The civilians were feeling the heat radiating and it was slowly irritating their skin.

"Have mercy" one of them begged "have mercy you divine young deity. Please show mercy!"

But the words had no effect, as the rage kept burning the co-existed. The canals got dried with flames instead of light. The rising elevation of houses was broken down to ground. The city was more of a graveyard straight out of hell. But Leon still hasn't let go of the Vanguard. His hand was still pierced in and his rage was stinging the most.

"Leave me" the vanguard whispered

"Never" Leon cried "you disguised yourself as my mother. You are more than dead bastard"

The flames got even heaviers from Leon….

"Brother" a cunning voice came in "Brother, is that you?"

That's when the tension was lowered significantly. The flames were sniffed out as Leon turned to find Agasthus. The chaos within Leon stilled. He simply let go of the Vanguard who turned into his original self.

Agasthus was afraid….

Leon's vision was clearer than before, and that's when he saw the panicked crowd. They were afraid of Leon, and why wouldn't they be. The figure they just saw wasn't of a child- it was of a monster, it was of a raging soul- a soul burning in hell.

"Big brother" Leon whispered, resting his tired head over Agasthus' shoulder.

"Let's leave" Agasthus was trying his best to cope up with the situation.

"This kid is appreciative. I'm a grown man in a little child's body, but this boy, he is a mere child yet he is coping up with the rulkus"

Giving a short smile, Leon took Agasthus in his arms. Leaving the town as everybody else did was the best option. The people were so afraid that they didn't even flinch until Leon vanished from their sight. Heading towards the beautiful walls of the imperial town, it was the town of higher class, where the people with higher Elixir lived. The place Tistra wanted to preserve- and beyond that, everything he wanted destroyed.

Leon stumbled, yet he kept hold of Agasthus, who was unconscious. It seemed like all the trauma finally stunned the little boy. But Leon wasn't far away from the same fate. His body was exhausted after expenditure of such cataclysmic energy. The wounds on his body, created by the exertion, reflected burden, and the clothed blood his desire. Still not giving up, his eyes sighted the walls which were genuinely closer. But he had no more strength left, and thus he fell unconscious. His mind simply wrote few lines in the integrity of the soul stating:-

The mirage was a mere destruction,

The destruction due to a blind fate,

Failed divine constitution and jurisdiction,

Now my soul shall enrage towards the hate.

The flames were lit….

The soul was ablaze….

Leon Vale was going to destroy Ascension- 1 from its very core.
