Kael Veyris was sitting inside the Imperial Palace.
A messenger entered the room.
"Lord Kael."
Kael looked up.
"Yes?"
The messenger bowed.
"A clan has requested your attention."
"Which clan?"
"The Silvermoon Elves."
Kael became interested.
"The Silvermoon Elves?"
"Yes. Their territory is extremely distant from the Empire's central regions."
Kael stood.
"How far?"
The messenger hesitated.
"Very far."
Kael smiled.
"Then I'll visit them."
The messenger looked surprised.
"Now?"
"Now."
Before anyone could say anything else...
Kael disappeared.
He didn't use a portal.
He didn't use teleportation magic.
He simply walked.
His irrelevant speed allowed him to cross distances that would require ordinary beings countless ages to traverse.
Universes passed behind him.
Then multiverses.
Then enormous regions of higher reality.
To Kael...
The distance was meaningless.
Moments later...
He arrived.
Before him stood an enormous silver forest.
Moonlight illuminated thousands of ancient trees.
Silver flowers grew beside crystal rivers.
Massive elven structures rose between the trees.
At the center of the territory stood a magnificent palace built from white stone and silver crystal.
Kael smiled.
"So this is the Silvermoon territory."
A voice suddenly came from behind him.
"Who are you?"
Kael turned.
Several Silvermoon Elves stood nearby.
Their weapons were raised.
Then one of them recognized him.
His eyes widened.
"Wait..."
"That's..."
"The Architect of Existence."
The elves immediately lowered their weapons.
The clan leader hurried forward.
"Lord Kael!"
Kael smiled.
"Relax."
"I came as a friend."
The clan leader bowed.
"Then you are most welcome in Silvermoon."
Kael looked toward the enormous silver forest.
"I've heard that the Silvermoon Elves have been friends with the Veyris Empire for a very long time."
The clan leader nodded.
"Our alliance has existed for generations."
"We consider the Veyris Empire a trusted friend."
Kael smiled.
"Then I wanted to see your home myself."
The clan leader looked surprised.
"You crossed all that distance just to visit us?"
Kael nodded.
"I was curious."
The clan leader laughed.
"Then welcome to Silvermoon, Lord Kael Veyris."
Kael spent the day walking through the Silvermoon territory.
He visited their markets.
He saw young elves training with bows.
He watched silver dragons flying above the forest.
He visited their ancient library.
He even stopped at a small restaurant run by an elderly Silvermoon couple.
Kael looked around.
"This place is peaceful."
The clan leader smiled.
"That's what we've always wanted."
Kael nodded.
"Then protect it."
"I will."
Before Kael left...
The Silvermoon clan gathered together.
The clan leader bowed.
"Thank you for visiting us."
Kael smiled.
"I'll visit again."
Then he turned toward the distant horizon.
One step.
And he vanished.
The Silvermoon Elves watched in silence.
One young elf finally asked,
"How long would it take us to reach the Imperial Capital?"
The clan leader thought about it.
"With our fastest ships?"
"Several thousand years."
The young elf stared.
"...And Lord Kael?"
The clan leader smiled.
"He walked here."
