Chapter 946 - The Imperial Maid

Morning arrived at the Veyris Imperial Castle.

Golden sunlight passed through the enormous crystal windows.

The castle was peaceful.

Kael Veyris slowly opened his eyes.

For once...

Nothing was happening.

No invasion.

No collapsing universe.

No cosmic entity challenging existence.

No emergency from the Imperial Knights.

Kael smiled.

"Peaceful."

He got out of bed and walked toward his office.

He opened the enormous doors.

Then stopped.

Silence.

Kael stared.

His office...

Was completely different.

Books were organized.

Documents were arranged by category.

Ancient artifacts were properly displayed.

His countless scrolls were neatly stored.

Even the enormous desk had been cleaned.

The floor was spotless.

The shelves were perfectly aligned.

Kael slowly looked around.

He had not seen his office this organized...

Ever.

He walked toward his desk.

Every document had been placed into labeled sections.

Imperial Affairs.

Military Reports.

Diplomatic Requests.

Universe Creation Records.

Realm Maintenance.

Family Documents.

Important.

Extremely Important.

Do Not Lose.

Kael stared at the last section.

"...I didn't even know I had that category."

A calm voice answered from behind him.

"You do now."

Kael turned.

Shalya stood in the doorway.

Her black-and-white maid uniform was perfectly arranged.

Her dark violet-black hair rested neatly around her shoulders.

Her bright blue eyes were calm.

Kael looked back at his office.

"Who changed everything?"

Shalya answered without hesitation.

"I did."

Kael looked at her.

"Why?"

Shalya calmly adjusted one of the books on a nearby shelf.

"Because you haven't organized anything in millions of years."

Silence.

Kael stared at her.

Shalya stared back.

Aurelion happened to walk past the open doorway.

He stopped.

He heard the conversation.

Aurelion slowly covered his mouth.

Kael finally spoke.

"I've been busy."

Shalya nodded.

"I know."

"I've created countless universes."

"Yes."

"I've dealt with countless civilizations."

"Yes."

"I've protected the Empire."

"Yes."

"I've watched over infinite realities."

"Yes."

Kael paused.

"...So?"

Shalya pointed toward the desk.

"None of that explains why you have three million unopened reports."

Kael looked at the desk.

There were no reports anymore.

Shalya had organized them.

Kael looked genuinely impressed.

"You finished all of them?"

"Yes."

"When?"

"Last night."

Aurelion finally laughed.

"Kael..."

Kael looked at him.

"What?"

Aurelion shook his head.

"Someone finally defeated you."

Kael raised an eyebrow.

"Defeated me?"

"Your greatest enemy."

Aurelion pointed toward Shalya.

"Organization."

Shalya nodded.

"Precisely."

Kael sighed.

Even the Primordial Nothingness had no counterargument.

Shalya walked toward the desk and placed a cup of tea beside him.

"Your schedule has also been reorganized."

Kael froze.

"My what?"

"Your schedule."

"I don't have a schedule."

"You do now."

Aurelion started laughing again.

Kael looked at the enormous schedule.

Morning — Breakfast.

Morning — Imperial Duties.

Midday — Family Time.

Afternoon — Empire Affairs.

Evening — Relaxation.

Night — No creating universes.

Kael stared at the final line.

"Why does it say I can't create universes at night?"

Shalya calmly answered.

"Because you created twelve last Tuesday."

Kael paused.

"...Fair."

Aurelion nearly fell over laughing.

Shalya gave Kael a respectful bow.

"Your office is now organized."

She turned to leave.

Then stopped.

"Oh."

Kael looked at her.

"Yes?"

"There is one more thing."

Shalya pointed toward a massive pile of books hidden behind the desk.

"Those need to be organized."

Kael stared at the pile.

It was enormous.

Aurelion looked at him.

"Good luck."

Kael sighed.

"For the first time in existence..."

He looked toward Shalya.

"I think I understand why people fear maids."

Shalya smiled faintly.

"I'll be back in an hour."

She left.

Kael looked at Aurelion.

Aurelion looked at Kael.

Neither spoke.

Finally...

Kael picked up the first book.

"Let's begin."

And somewhere within the Infinite Library...

The universe itself seemed to laugh.
