I realized I missed a chapter when I was organizing. No wonder things didn't line up. I'll add it here, but it might seem like a jump.
"She's just a child, what are those damn bastards trying to do to her?" Ororo couldn't help but speak when she saw the scene in the mirror. However, what answered her was the sneer from Magneto's side.
"A person who can be seen as a demon by those bastards is just a child in your eyes? It seems you really are a qualified teacher."
Ororo's face turned cold, and she stopped talking, but in her heart, she had already taken a liking to this child named Erisa.
"It's a pity, this person's memory still doesn't have Professor Charles's situation." Jean Grey sighed, not seeing the professor's trace made her worry even more.
"No, dear." Magneto smiled slightly at this time. "This might be the only good news we see. They must not have controlled Charles yet, otherwise, he should be present in this person's memory."
"Stryker dares not let his subordinates see Charles for only one reason: Charles still retains his self, Stryker doesn't have the courage to let his subordinates face my old friend. And this, is our chance!"
Magneto's words gave many people confidence. The loss of the most deterrent existence among the enemies was definitely an encouraging news for these mutants. However, not everyone thought the same way.
Quicksilver pouted, as if he wanted to say something. But before he could open his mouth, he felt someone pull him back. He looked back and saw his sister shaking her head gently at him.
Quicksilver paused and ultimately chose to stand silently beside Wanda.
Magneto's words might not be true, but this speculation could re-energize these mutants. And these energized mutants would act as their vanguard, testing for dangers ahead. So, why stop them?
Having understood the meaning behind it, Quicksilver no longer chose to obstruct. And this was precisely what Magneto wanted to see.
"Very well, I think we just need to wait for the final reinforcements to arrive, and then we can begin." With no one else objecting, Magneto clasped his hands together, focusing his gaze on the Dam. He had a feeling this might be the best opportunity, perhaps.
And at that moment, Zhou Yi's voice came from above.
"No need to wait, I'm already here." The black-clad Dawn Knight descended silently, standing on the branch above them. It was clear that he had arrived some time ago.
"You've become even stronger, Dawn Knight." Magneto's pupils suddenly contracted, revealing his inner turmoil. "My magnetic field sense can no longer detect you. I have to say, you've given me too many surprises."
"This isn't good news for you, is it?" Zhou Yi responded unceremoniously, not hiding his hostility towards Magneto.
"That's all for later, isn't it, after all this is over? We'll get the understanding you want," Magneto replied calmly, concealing his emotions. It seemed he was fully prepared.
Zhou Yi didn't respond. He believed silence could sometimes express his resolve better than words.
Seeing Zhou Yi's silent reaction, Magneto, with unidentifiable emotions, waved his hand at the elite group of mutants under his command.
"This is our most important battle. Some of you may die in this battle. But if you don't fight, then all mutants, including yourselves, will face destruction. Our dreams, our future, will also turn to ashes in the hands of those humans. So, although sacrifice is inevitable, all our brethren will remember your contributions and sacrifices. May God bless you, children!"
The treatment mutants had received had instilled in them a kind of distorted prejudice about their own identities. They were the coldest people and the easiest to be stirred up. Having experienced many injustices, they easily did things that humans would consider extreme. This was particularly evident among Magneto's followers.
They could sacrifice their lives without hesitation for a lie, a goal fabricated by Magneto. It had to be said that this was foolish, but it was also terrifying. Sometimes, one had to admit that the reason mutants could still exist in this world was largely due to the contributions of the Brotherhood of Mutants led by Magneto. From the perspective of the mutant world, the Brotherhood of Mutants played a far greater role than Professor Charles Xavier's school.
So, when Magneto asked them to fight and sacrifice for the survival of the mutants in this tone, there was surprisingly little opposition. They had already made this realization, or rather, they agreed with Magneto's ideas. The idea of sacrificing everything for their race.
"Wanda, Peter. Help them open the gate!" Magneto commanded calmly. Under his orders, Quicksilver grabbed Wanda's hand and, in a flash of silver light, vanished into the crowd.
Having read the soldiers' memories, they could easily find the hidden base's gate. And for Wanda, with her unpredictable abilities, opening it was no problem.
Watching the mutant elites moving through the forest in groups, heading towards the Dam, Magneto smiled slightly and took a step forward. The underground metal elements, like countless flying gnats, emerged from the moist soil of the forest and formed a flat metal disc under his feet.
As Magneto's feet stepped onto the metal disc, an invisible force propelled it, carrying Magneto rapidly towards the Dam.
This alone showed the depth of this mutant king's power. With his ability, most things in the world could become manifestations of his strength. This wasn't limited to terrifying, world-destroying ultimate moves; it was also reflected in the subtle details everywhere.
According to Chinese martial arts novels, he had almost reached the point where everything in the world could be a sword. For him, his ability was his sword, and in the application of his ability, he was indeed a true grandmaster.
Ororo glanced at Zhou Yi, who was standing still without any expression. She bit her lip and also activated her ability. A strong wind suddenly arose, lifting her body, and with the support of storms and lightning, she followed closely behind Magneto.
Unlike those mutants who had already been bewitched by Magneto, Ororo, who had always only agreed with Professor Charles's ideas, saw the current situation very clearly. So she also understood one thing: only by following Magneto would she not become a discarded pawn sacrificed at his whim.
Unlike Ororo's resolve, Jean Grey's tormented heart prevented her from achieving the same level of composure. Ororo's pride and strength allowed her to stand her ground with Zhou Yi on this matter, but Jean lacked such courage. Neither version of her could endure this torment.
"Yi..." But when the words reached her lips, Jean was overwhelmed with a thousand unspoken sentiments, making it difficult to express herself. She truly didn't know how to convey her feelings. She wanted to completely and utterly give in, but she feared being looked down upon. She wanted to proudly express something, but she lacked the courage. Countless words mixed with countless emotions, plunging her into a state of inexplicable panic and anxiety.
Sensing Jean's mental instability, Zhou Yi instinctively took a step forward. But he ultimately steeled himself and stopped. His feelings for them hadn't changed, but that didn't mean he could easily forgive them. Some things required experience before they could be forgiven, and what he could confirm now was that they needed more time and space to understand this relationship.
So, he raised his hand to interrupt Jean Grey's words, answering with a coldness that mirrored the color of his black armor.
"Jean, I think we need more time to clear our heads. I believe, not right now!"
With that, Zhou Yi swiftly took to the air, disappearing into the clouds. He wouldn't be joining Magneto and the others, as he had his own plan to implement.
Hearing Zhou Yi's cold words, a sense of suffocation immediately overwhelmed her. The mental impact instantly paled her face, and her body began to tremble. Within her mental world, the turmoil generated by the Dark Phoenix was far more terrifying than her outward appearance.
Madness, rage, fear, resentment, sorrow. All extreme emotions roared and surged within Jean Grey's mental prison. Charles's power was diminishing, or rather, under these extreme emotions, the Dark Phoenix, a manifestation of primal desires, was becoming increasingly powerful, so powerful that even Charles's power could no longer contain her.
And yet, no one knew this, not even Jean Grey herself. Her mind, now fallen into a state of silence, walked the path towards the battlefield alone. No one noticed her, or rather, no one dared to look directly at her at this moment. Because to look at her was akin to staring directly into the most desperate abyss.
Those with weak mental defenses would be overwhelmed in an instant by a torrent of crazed emotions. They would become mindless lunatics and pitiful creatures ruled by fear and despair. And this was just one of the manifestations of her current state.
As she stepped into the forest, the entire forest began to fall silent. Whether it was the animals, the plants, or the very sounds themselves, all began to inexplicably vanish. In the air, leaves, wood chips, dirt, and sand all began to float upwards. Just like in Paris, they were broken down into countless tiny particles, swirling around Jean Grey.
Every place she passed became a dead wasteland. It was as if she had become the embodiment of destruction. And for her, this was only the beginning.
