Several bottles of strong liquor were brought over, along with fresh crystal glasses. They were arranged neatly on the table and filled to the brim.
Adrian rested one arm against the sofa and spoke lazily.
"I'll drink as many glasses as you can."
Eli finally walked over.
The people around the booth instinctively moved aside, giving him room to sit opposite Adrian.
He was already annoyed simply by looking at Adrian's faintly amused expression.
Without another word, Eli sat down and picked up one of the glasses.
The crystal was surprisingly heavy in his hand, while the pale golden liquor inside caught the light.
He took a small sip.
The moment the alcohol touched his tongue, Eli frowned.
It was sharp at first, followed by a burning sensation that spread down his throat and settled heavily in his stomach.
It tasted terrible.
Eli had never liked this kind of smell.
Still, he did not stop.
He frowned, tilted his head back, and swallowed the entire glass in one go.
