Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: After Life

-???-

"hey"

ZZZZzzzz

"Hey!"

Zzzzzzz

"HEYYYY!"

"Eek!", eyes shot wide awake, she squinted her eyes against the light now invading her eyes.

She heard a sigh to her left and turned her head towards the very blurry but somewhat blue (?) figure. Eyes now finally adjusted, she saw a policeman looking at her while she was in...a bed (?)

'Don't they need a warrant to be in here? It's way too early for this...', she was about to speak, but the cop then beat her to it.

"Welp, your finally awake aren'tcha? Now that you're conscious, I wanna ask you a few questions lil missy. Tell me, what do you know of a lady called Whi-"

Pain, a surge of pain, despair and loathing suddenly made it's place within her mind. That name....THAT NAMEEE

Seeds of hatred began to sprout. A burning feeling clawed within her chest

why? WHY!? WHY DID YOU-

She heard a sudden shout for help, a loud and annoying beeping next to her. A sudden realization that she was in a hospital took root, surges of memories began to flash through her head.

She heard joyous laughter, an evening by the beach, sand coursing through their toes as they held each other's hands.

...stop

She saw eyes, so filled with kindness, a mouth spread out to form the most beautiful smile she'd ever seen. All directed at her.

I said stop.

She felt the touch of another, hands kneading her shoulders after a long day at work. Easing her tension as she relaxed into their embrace.

Make it stop...please

She tasted cinnamon as she gave away her first kiss, her heart beating a mile a minute in sheer absolute joy. Everything just felt right with the world at that very moment.

FUCKING. STOPPPPPP.

Eyes bloodshot, she ripped out the IV attached to her arm and lunged out of the hospital bed. Crashing into the floor with a grunt, she tried to move her weak legs but failed.

"W-WAIT, CALM DOWN MS. GEORGIA! YOU'RE STILL IN CRITICAL CONDITION, WE NEED YOU TO-", I can't take it anymore, this pain, this anger.

"IT HURTTSS SOMUCHHH", I clawed at the floor, desperate to move, desperate to find somewhere, something, to ease this feeling in me. Screaming in rage, I grabbed the nearest thing to me and hurled it at the nurses who tried to grab onto me.

I coughed blood onto a now shredded piece of curtain, staining it red. I hooked one of the nurses with the crimson curtain, staring into her fearful, terrified little eyes and demanded.

"WHERE IS SHE"

Then all faded to black

-Georgia (?)-

My eyes shot wide open for the second time today, and everywhere I saw was red. Shakily, I tried to move, but something felt...off

I looked at my arm and gasped, my arm now made up of what seemed to be scarlet ribbons. Panicking, I looked around and spotted a puddle of water nearby. Taking in my new appearance.

My head was now a white and black mask, white side representing sadness, the black side, joy. My body was made up of the same scarlet ribbons that covered up my arm. For some reason, shifting and moving the ribbons felt...natural.

Alarmed, I quickly found what looked to be an alley and sat down. Knees covered with ribbons now held close to my chest.

Where was I? What, was I? What's going on? This isn't the hospital!

I glanced to my left and both sides of my mask gasped in shock. Peop- no, Creatures of various forms walking past the alley, some had horns, others had fur. Slowly, I began to ponder about the possible implications this brought me.

Just then, a drop of acid fell onto my arm.

Yelping in pain, I looked up and froze as I saw a large pentagram looming in the sky above me. After enduring another acid drop to the mask, I dashed out of the alley, and found shelter in an abandoned house.

A downpour of acid rain began, screams of creat- no, I now know what they are, they're demons. And I, I've died and gone to Hell...

'So hell is real....God, is real....What's gonna happen now?', she pondered what she was gonna do. So far, besides the acid rain she didn't see any sort of eternal torture or fire yet.

Now that she was a demon, what was she supposed to do next?

Ducking down behind the moldy couch, she tensed as voices began to near her.

"Bloody acid rain! God dammit, now my clothes are filled with holes!", growling, the demon took off his shirt and threw it to the floor.

"Hey at least you ain't filled with a different type of hole, if ya know what I mean", a sleazy voice joked.

She deadpanned as the demons began to bicker and argue against each other. Rolling her eyes (?) as she heard them calm down and begin to argue again because of another joke.

'These demons...don't really act all demonic do they? They almost seem human to me..', she thought.

Perhaps they were just like her, someone who died and was brought to hell. But instead of relief at not being the only one, her ribbons tightened against each other, as her eyes grew wary.

If they were down here in hell, that meant they had to have done something bad too, meaning she couldn't trust any of them to not attack her.

She clenched her teeth in anger as another memory popped up within her mind. A memory of the results of her trust, of her relying on it. Malice started leaking into the air, her ribbon fingers sharpening as she blinked away hot tears that started to form.

"H-hey who's there? Show yourself!", the sleazy voice, now filled with fear shouted in her direction.

"Shit man! What if it's one of them Overlords!? Fuck this, I'm out!", one of the demons started running, and not long after his companion ran too.

Calming down as they left, the sounds of their screams echoing as acid rain poured onto them made it to her ears. Her attention now focused onto a word one of them had just said.

'Overlord....It sounds like these demons are afraid of these figures. I need more information on them.', she shelved the topic to the back of her mind as she glanced at her now sharp fingers (?)

Standing up and turning around, she swiped her hand across the couch, staring in awe as the couch was sliced into pieces by her sharp ribbon fingers.

'So I have abilities now, I wonder if there's more?', she closed her eyes and focused, the ribbons that made up her left arm tightening against each other as more ribbons materialized out of her body to wrap around them.

Opening her eyes she saw her hand becoming huge, turning it over and staring at it with fascination. Smiling a little more with one side of her face, she clenched her giant fist and threw a punch towards the table nearby.

CRASH

'Wow, superhuman strength too? Fascinating, but if I have these abilities, that must mean other demons have powers too', Shifting her hand back to normal, she sat back down on the floor and looked out the window.

A sky of endless red with a huge pentagram, other demons, overlords. The thought of all of it exhausted her.

She wanted to go back home, back to where she could relax and enj-

'But home. Doesn't exist, not anymore', both sides of her face frowned.

She needs power, lots of it. Her life as a mortal had given her many lessons, one of which being that without power, you would never be able to live a good life. Without power or influence, your life would be in the hands of others to do as they see fit.

'I still need more info, I don't know if this hell is the one mentioned in the bible or not, and other than these 'Overlords', I know nothing else about the power structure nor the hierarchy of this place.', she needed more info, but simply asking a demon wouldn't do. They'd never do it for free, not even humans would.

Waiting for a few more hours for the acid rain to pass, she practiced with her new-found abilities for her plan.

Spotting a sheep looking demon, she felt a twinge of guilt for what she was about to do, but crushed it as soon as it appeared. Enlarging her right hand to a massive size, she extended her ribbon arm to grab the demon.

"KYAAHHH!", once again crushing the shame away, she retracted her arm, all the while holding onto the now trapped demon. As she brought the terrified little sheep near her mask, she did her best to appear as menacing as possible.

"My apologies little lamb, for the rather...unconventional way of getting your attention, w-", she was cut off by the demon starting to wail and scream out in terror.

"NO, Please! I'll do anything just don't hurt me! Please!", her heart ached at her pleas for mercy.

'PLEASE, DON'T LEAVE MEPLEA-', she shook her head at the unpleasant memory.

Sighing in resignation, she loosened her grip just a little before speaking a little softer to the shaking demon.

"Hey, Hey it's gonna be okay alright? I'm just gonna ask you some questions and I'll let you go alright?", the lamb visibly calmed down but still looked scared, but shakily nodded after a while.

After asking many, many questions. I kept true to my word and released her from my hold. She knelt to the floor as she shakily tried to stand back up. And as I walked away, she asked me.

"W-who are you?", pausing, I pursed my lips (?).

I thought about giving her my name, but something in me stopped that from happening. Flashes of bad memories gave way to pain. No, I am not Georgia anymore. Georgia died in that apartment on that day. From now on I will be known as....

"Gangle, you may call me Gangle."
