Endless nothingness, I don't know how long it could have been, seconds, years, or minutes, it all felt constant and still all at the same time.
I had no body, it felt like I was swimming with nothing but my mind, but at the same time, not.
"Ugh, that's enough monologueing for now, but this is truly tedious. Where am I, dammit?" No matter how loud I shouted, I felt no movement in my mouth. Well, I don't think I have one to tell the truth, but as I moved, I couldn't help but think
"Hmm, is this what happens after death?"
"Just endless nothingness"
The best word to describe this space was "void." The moment the word left my metaphorical mouth, the space around me began to ripple, as if answering my call, "Well, that was scary. Let's try again."
As Victor muttered the word "Void" again, much to his displeasure, nothing happened; everything stayed the same, as usual.
"I can't let this go on. I'll lose my mind before I ever get a chance. Let's retrace my steps."
First: headache
Second: swore at a god I did not know of
"AH, the damn go-"
Even before the word left my mouth, I was pulled in a random direction, but due to the space, it could have been any direction. But back to the point, I FOUND THE keyword.
Victor decided to test a theory, then calmly uttered the word again, this time with caution
"god"
Then again, this time, more subtly, he was pulled in the same direction. 'Hm, so it has something to do with a god, it doesn't seem it's the word 'god' due to the effects lessening'
As he began to ponder what mysterious word it could be, he came to an interesting theory
"What if instead of the word 'god' it's a specific god?" as if confirming his words, the surrounding rippled ever so slightly, 'okay, so think Victor think different types of gods ahhh I'm so glad I read novels on earth or I'd be screwed, alright, let's just shout random ones'
Taking a deep breath, he began shouting all the possible gods he knew
"GOD OF LIGHT"
All he felt was repulsion
'So it's a god on the darker scale, huh?' With this thought, he took a different route and shouted
"GOD OF DEATH"
This time, he felt a pull, as if to confirm he's close: "damn, this is harder than I thought, god of death, god of murder, god of night, god of shadows."
BOOM
As soon as he uttered the name 'god of shadows,' he was sucked into a black, shadowy whirlpool that appeared as he finished the name.
After what felt like eternity, he saw a flicker, just a tiny insignificant flicker of what looked to be light, but to Victor, who had seen nothing but darkness, it was like seeing salvation take form
"LIGHT HAHA FINALLY FUCK"
Instantly willing his consciousness to the light he spent a while swimming through nothingness till the light came into veiw but what shocked Victor was the fact it was just light no what emitted the light was torches hanging on the wall of humongous dark double doors that seemed to move As if alive they all so seemed to be floating mid air but that hardly registered as a though.
"Ha ha, finally something other than darkness." As he floated in front of the doors, he moved closer, wanting to touch said doors, but as he got closer, something unexpected happened, and they creaked open
CREAK
As the massive doors slowly opened up, the shadows that surrounded it suddenly lowered themselves as if in the presence of their king, their ruler, though this didn't surprise Victor as he already assumed this place had something to do with the 'shadow god'
Seeing the sight, the only thought filling Victor's mind was 'i wasnt them to treat me like that too'
As if responding to thoughts, the doors pulled him in. He didn't resist after all, that would be futile. Who was he to dare defy whatever the hell this was after a moment, his vision went blank yet again
As he opens them again after an unknown amount of time, the only thing that greeted him as Silence, but not the Eerie silence he had gotten use to. This was more calming as he looked at the night sky, he couldn't help but think it looked beautiful-
"Wait"
"SKY there's actually a sky holy shit, this is huge" after this realization, he leaped up faster than he should have been able to then, he realized he had body but no way to know if it was still his he suddenly wish he has a mirror , as he contemplated his thoughts, a deep dark, but also serine voice echoed across this mysterious plane that sent shivers down his new spine
"Well this is certainly unexpected are you not going to come great the being whose prison you just broke in to"
Victors stomach churned at just listening to this beings voice. The mere sound of it radiated such power but what canght his attention was the word 'prison' Before he could contemplate the meaning behind the words space twisted, and he disappeared and reappeared in a dark cell-like room As he looked around his gaze locked onto a being who was shrouded in shadows Victor couldn't tell his appearance accept for it was a male and most definitely not human
After a quick staring contest the being burst into laughter but the laugh sent shivers down victors spine
"HahahahAhahhaahHHAAHAHA"
"Tell me boy how did you end up in this god forsaken place this should be impossible" there was no hostility in his voice all Victor could sense was that this being was genuinely curious.
And honestly Victor didnt dare lie so he told him the truth from him getting headaches saying god and dying to the void all the way to the door and now he was here
After about ten minutes Victor had finished his story and the being listened attentively to attentively if he was being honest but he didn't mind this was the first conversation he had in what felt like decades
After what felt like ages the being finally said "well I'm lost in all my billions years stuck here no-one not even other god level beings or higher have managed to reach here yet a mere mortals with no power could the irony haha"
Victors mind reeled 'did he just say billions of years locked up here'
Seeing the look on the humans face he couldn't help but laugh 'hahahaha you should see your face haaa how long it's been since I last laughed' though he didn't should it outwardly he was quite happy with this development to be honest
His thought was cut short when the human finally spoke
"So erm what now is this a you possess my body so you can escape situation or we are now both locked in here for eternity together mortal and higher being bonding time situation"victors voice laced with worry and amusement this was quite thrilling if he had to say so himself
Hearing his question the being asked "Your not scared?"
"Should I be?"
The being was shocked had he really fallen so low 'no it's just That this mortal is weird yes that's it'
Victor finally asked the question that had been plauging his mind since he arrived "so erm are you perhaps the shadow god?" his voice carrying a tone of worry because he didn't know if saying his name would anger the being or not.
After a Erie silence he finally spoke:
"Yes but not quite"
