Silence
Silence
That has always been my world since my cradle days; I can only feel, but I can't hear or express. I take joy in my own world of silence, not because I choose to but because I was born with it
Life isn't hard when you're in total silence…at least that's what I thought until my world crashed
When did it start to crash? I can't exactly point it out but I think it all started when my mom died and my stepmother was brought in with my stepsister
Hatred. Disgust. Stigmatization
That was what I got from them and my father, I became a scar on their perfect skin, a taint on their image, a secret they wished to bury forever
As the daughter of a reputable man in society, my father doesn't want the world to know that he has a deaf and dumb daughter who can only communicate through signs and lip-reading

Everything changed when my mom died. My world crashed, and my silent world, my comfort place, started becoming a place of dread…I could barely breathe sometimes and all this suffering I covered up in me
"Freak! What are you looking at?" Evelyn said when she saw me descending the stairs
Not that I could hear her but my lip-reading ability is top-notch and I can catch on to conversations easily. Sometimes I use signs and sometimes lip-reading and sometimes I study the expression on people's faces
I ignore her like I always do, I can't fight back anyway. I walked into the kitchen and grabbed a bag of chips and a bottle of water, I hadn't eaten all day as I was busy with my online lessons and it's already a little bit past midnight
Yes, I've learned sign languages online and some therapies as well.
Evelyn probably followed me because immediately I closed the refrigerator she yanked my hair back…hard. It was so hard that my scalp stung from the impact
"What do you think you're doing, freak, taking food from our fridge, huh!?" Her face twisted in disgust.
I struggled to release myself from her hold before my scalp would peel off, but it looked like the more I struggled, the more she pulled. I was in pain and in no time, tears started coming out of my eyes
"You shameless thing! Why won't you just follow your mother?" Her lips moved again
I flailed my hands around the kitchen and caught something. I hit her hand with it, and she released me instantly. My breathing was ragged after she released me and I saw her move back, her face wide as if she had seen a ghost
Almost immediately, my dad and her mom stepped in to see what had happened. Veronica's face also widened when she entered, before I knew it she flew towards me and slapped my face and as a result, my face tilted a bit to the side
My cheeks turned red instantly and I could taste my own blood in my mouth and that was when I saw what happened…blood… a pool of blood
I looked up slowly and saw Evelyn's bloody wrist. Turned out that when I hit her, it was with a knife and she suffered a cut from it, the cut seems really bad from the way blood pooled from it
My heartbeat skyrocketed as I stared at my father's furious face, his facial expression at the moment already says it all…
Anger. Hate. Despise. Disgust
Name everything…his face mirrored it all. Evelyn had already passed out and her mother had taken her away with the help of the maids, and I was left alone with my father and a few guards

My tears dropped on my dress as I stared at my father. I wanted to tell him that Evelyn started it first, and I was only trying to defend myself without getting into trouble…

He signaled to the guards behind me and two of them came to grab me by the hands, rendering me helpless and unable to fight back, my stomach clenched when my father approached me and slapped me…twice
My gaze blurred as I bled from the lip, he pointed his index finger to his lips asking me to focus on what he's about to say
"I don't want to ever see you again Isolde. You disgust me," his lip moved, and my tiny heart broke into a million pieces. Suddenly, the guards started dragging me out of the house towards the big door of the mansion
Are they throwing me out? I wondered in my heart band I was correct, they took me to the gate, threw me out, and locked it behind me. I staggered to my feet and started banging on the gate but no one came
The air is chilly and I'm only in my blue nightie with a pair of slippers, lights flashed in the sky and I knew it…it's going to rain
Tears pooled down my face as I walked weakly away from the mansion, going anywhere I could manage for the night. I don't even have my credit card with me
As I walked down the busy streets of New York, the only thing that flashed through my mind was the lip of my father
"I don't want to ever see you again Isolde. You disgust me"
As I reeled to that moment my breath caught in my throat…it suddenly became hot…I couldn't breathe, even the cold rain falling on my skin feels hot. I crouched down and soon fell weakly on the ground, my head spun, and I couldn't hold those tears anymore
I was still sitting weakly on the ground…my eyes rolling back and forth when a bright light suddenly shone from afar…I couldn't tell if it was far or near but everything happened too suddenly that I couldn't even process it
A great force jolted me from the ground into the air, it was a truck. A truck just rammed into me
It all happened too fast and too suddenly!
