Red made the decision, saving the skill for Darla even though it was a Tier 2 Skill. The reason was that he already had a fire-based offensive skill. But the main reason was that he wanted her to have something to protect herself.
The Chief might deem him a fool if the Chief knew what he was doing. But that was not the case from his perspective. Darla was the first intimate person to him. She opened a new world to him in a lot of things, though mostly in bed activity and food.
Another thing about Darla was that she filled something empty inside him. It was no longer about surviving or thriving when he was here. There was more to life than just surviving, enjoying life itself.
But of course, he could leave the village at ease when she had an offensive skill like Fire Breath. To him, Darla was more important than the whole village. So it was worth it to reserve the skill for her. Unless it was an emergency, he would save the skill for Darla.
