Chapter 5 - An Offer

Vince: Place your order

I realized he's talking to me so I replied

Tamara: Nevermind, I'm ok

Did the waiter come for me? I didn't even know when he called her I would have told him not to bother himself. After I replied him, he stared at me for a while before speaking to the waiter

Vince: Get me warm coffee, no sugar.

He looks back at me and said again

Vince: Place your order

Well since he's asking nicely and for the second time too so I decide not to make anymore scenes. The waiter walks up to me, well she has finally notice me and I think she wants to hand me the tablet but I wave at her to stop her

Tamara: I will have warm coffee too with no sugar.

I didn't think much about it, I'm really not interested in what they have. I'm only sitting here to know what this boy has to say and he's wasting my precious time with all these, I just ordered out of politeness. The waiter turns back to him and he waves her away. I'm really getting restless now I mean aren't we supposed to be talking already so I decide to ask him, going directly to the point

Tamara: What do you want from me?

Vince: I'm the CEO of Jetro

Tamara: Jetro tech?

Vince: yeah

Wow, I was thinking he will be the CEO of a company he inherited but Jetro? That's a known tech company that has been making waves in recent years and I even use some of their products but according to their magazine it hasn't even been six years it was found and their founder is yet to turn thirty which means he's not having a successor yet so this guy must have been employed to be the CEO but I'm still wondering why he wants to see me, so I have to ask him again

Tamara: So, why do you want to see me?

Vince: I want to employ you

Wait, now this is really something new to me coz in all my 19 years I have never thought of working for anyone

Tamara: I don't need employment

Vince: my company is developing a new product that needs an upgraded program, we need more skilled programmers.

Hmmm, he seems to have done a background check on me otherwise with my low-key life he wouldn't have approached me.

Tamara: So you think I'm skilled?

Vince: someone referred you to me

Tamara: ohh, that seems more like it(she muttered but still audible enough) well I'm sorry but I still maintain that I don't need a job

Vince: You can think about

Tamara: You know I'm a student right? If I don't study well I won't be good enough

Vince: Of course I know and I promise your work won't affect your studies

Tamara: And how is that even possible?

Vince: You can only work during holidays and weekends

Now this is really confusing, what kind of job is that? I'm I that important? Will I be working for free? I'm still looking at him with that confused expression when the waiter suddenly came into view placing our coffees on the table and in front of us respectively before leaving. I looked down at my coffee still in thought when I heard him say again

Vince: We have few employees who walk part-time and we know how good you are so you will begin with a salary of $15,000.

I picked up my cup of coffee, drank from it before replying

Tamara: Ok, I will think about it

Vince: good, I will be looking forward to your feedback, here is my business card

He brings out a business card from his chest pocket and places it on the table.

I drank a little more from my cup, then place it back on the table before picking up the card, I put it into my bag and I'm ready to go so I asked him

Tamara: I'm I free to go now?

Vince: Why not?

Tamara: Alright, I will get back to you later.

And with that I stood up and made my way out of the lounge and then out of the coffee shop.
