Elisabeth's POV
My skull felt like it was splitting apart. Every muscle in my body screamed with exhaustion, and my thoughts were a chaotic mess. The weight of everything crushing down on me was suffocating. I wanted to break something, anything, but instead I sat there like a statue, hoping that somehow staying perfectly still would make the hurricane in my head disappear.
I had stormed out on my father, and I had zero plans to speak with him again anytime soon.
Not that it would change anything. The man had never listened to a word I said anyway.
"Holy crap, this place is massive!" Alana's voice jolted me back to reality, her excited laughter bouncing off the walls of the bedroom Jefferson had assigned me. I blinked in confusion. When had she even come back in?
"I thought you were leaving," I said, staring at her with bewilderment.
Alana stopped mid-stride toward the bed, giving me a look like I had lost my mind. "Leaving?" she repeated, clearly baffled.
